The 25-year-old pregnant woman's father, brother and spurned fiancé were among about a dozen male relatives who used bricks and clubs in the killing of Farzana Parveen for disobeying her family's wishes.
She suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to AP.
Lahore police charged her father, Mohammad Azeem, with murder, and the others were being sought. Azeem told police he helped kill his daughter because she had shamed the family.
"I killed my daughter as she had insulted all of our family by marrying a man without our consent, and I have no regret over it," police investigator Rana Mujahid quoted him as saying.
Parveen was attacked as she and her husband, Mohammad Iqbal, arrived at the gates of the Lahore High Court. They went there to dispute charges brought by her father that Iqbal had kidnapped Parveen, who had been engaged to her cousin for several years.

The latest round of negotiations with the Palestinians has left a false,
even dangerous impression in the international community. In every
public statement about the talks, the American mediators made sure to
remind the global audience that all the “final status” issues were on
the table, including Jerusalem.Forty-seven years after the historic reunification of Jerusalem it is now time to rid the world of the notion that the future of Jerusalem is up for negotiation. The most practical way of clarifying this important point is for the State of Israel to announce that it intends to build without hesitation in all parts of Jerusalem.
For far too long we have been on the defensive when it comes to building in Jerusalem. Our quiet acceptance of international condemnation and tepid response to tersely worded statements criticizing our building plans have loosened our hold on Jerusalem. Neighborhoods such as Gilo and Ramat Shlomo, once part of the consensus and indisputably considered part of the State of Israel under any possible future agreement, are now treated by our American allies and the international community in the same manner as illegal outposts in Judea and Samaria. Only by expanding the existing neighborhoods of Jerusalem, while simultaneously planning, building and populating new building projects in all parts of the city can we hope to change international perceptions about our capital. More importantly, enacting such a plan will greatly decrease the chance of future Israeli governments considering to ever again divide the city.

His predecessor Pope John Paul II was less willing to confront Islamic violence. But his opposition to Communism made him respect Israel as freedom’s outpost in the Middle East. John Paul’s visit to Israel in 2000 was in some ways an historic gesture of friendship to the Jewish people of Israel.

The State Department’s Counter Terrorism
(CT) Bureau promoted on Friday a controversial Muslim scholar whose
organization has reportedly backed Hamas and endorsed a fatwa
authorizing the murder of U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
The CT bureau on Friday tweeted out a link to the official website of Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, the vice president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS),
a controversial organization founded by a Muslim Brotherhood leader
“who has called for the death of Jews and Americans and himself is
banned from visiting the U.S.,” according to Fox News.
Bin Bayyah is reported to have been one of several clerics who endorsed a 2004 fatwa that endorsed resistance against Americans fighting in Iraq, PJ Media reported in 2013, when Bin Bayyah met with Obama’s National Security Council staff at the White House.
The CT Bureau tweet linked to a press release on Bin Bayyah’s site condemning the kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian girls by the Boko Haram group.
However, Bin Bayyah himself has been known to back controversial causes.

Conference in Madison, Wisconsin, attended by 2,500 public-school
teachers, administrators and students from across the nation

In one of the workshops, “Examining White Privilege and Building Foundations for Social Justice Thinking in the Elementary Classroom,” educators Rosemary Colt and Diana Reeves told how teachers can “insert social justice, anti-racist information” into their lessons that “even little kids” can understand.
Kim Radersma, a former high-school English teacher, hosted a session titled “Stories from the front lines of education: Confessions of a white, high school English teacher.” She said that teaching is a purely political act and that neutral people should “get the f—- out of education.” (http://tinyurl.com/q5adt2d). She also explained: “Being a white person who does anti-racist work is like being an alcoholic. I will never be recovered by my alcoholism, to use the metaphor. His column is about "Islamism," which is the ideology I (among others) call "Islamic supremacism" - a.k.a "radical" or "extremist" Islam, or even "sharia-ism" in the recent coinage of my friend Joy Brighton . . . all of us, it should be conceded, grappling for the pitch-perfect term that (we hope) justifies sidestepping the gnawing question whether Islam itself inevitably breeds aggressive Muslim groups even if it is otherwise widely construed, or at least practiced, benignly.
Daniel has previously rejected the possibility that Islamism, which is innately dictatorial, could evolve into something that approximates pluralistic democracy. He now surveys recent developments and concludes it is conceivable - not likely, but conceivable - that Islamism could evolve and improve.

On May 22, the families, in an unprecedented move, staged a demonstration against the Rosary Sisters' School, accusing its directors of "racism" and "intolerance".

"It is a Christian school and if you want to put on a hijab, go to a Muslim school." — Razan, east Jerusalem.Pope Francis was probably unaware that during his visit to Bethlehem earlier this week, a Christian school in east Jerusalem was being attacked by Palestinian families for allegedly banning their daughters from wearing the hijab, the veil that covers the head of Muslim women.
Some Christian families said they considered bringing the issue to the attention of the Pope and his entourage but were afraid to do so for fear of retribution.
It remains to be seen whether the Pope or the Vatican will do anything to help the school's administration in the face of the campaign of intimidation and threats.

Five years ago, Wilders promised his voters that he would not align himself with any foreign parties in the EP. This time, however, he went to the European elections in coalition with the French Front National [FN] of Marine Le Pen. Having met Ms Le Pen, Wilders says he is convinced that she wants to break with the anti-Semitic past of her party. Wilders, who is one of Israel's most outspoken supporters in Europe, said , "Marine Le Pen is not her father. She is not anti-Semitic. She cares about France, its identity and its sovereignty."

Needless to say none of the European Union partners of the Netherlands stands by the Dutch when they are confronting an illegal boycott by Saudi Arabia. Common EU declarations criticizing Israel are so much easier to make -- and need less courage -- than risking the anger of the Saudis.To the surprise of many, the results for Geert Wilders' Freedom Party (PVV) in last Thursday's European elections in the Netherlands were disappointing. Wilders blamed the low voter turnout and the fact that his voters were not interested in the elections for the European Parliament (EP). He may have a point. A poll taken on Thursday shows that the PVV would have done much better in national elections for the Dutch Parliament. But there are also indications of the opposite. Wilders did very well in the previous European elections five years ago. Voter turnout was equally low then, but Wilders' voters did show up despite their lack of interest in the European Union.

sentenced to death by hanging for refusing to renounce Christ and
embrace Islam. According to the LA Times:Tragic as this story is, it is also immensely commonplace in Islamic countries. Why? Because Islamic law does in fact punish the apostate from Islam—including with death—in accordance with the commands of the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Indeed, many Muslim clerics believe that “If the [death] penalty for apostasy was ignored, there would not be an Islam today; Islam would have ended on the death of the prophet,” as top Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi once declared on live television.Meriam Yehya Ibrahim, who has a young son and is married to a Christian from South Sudan, violated Islamic sharia law, the court said. She insists she was raised Christian, not Muslim.The court also ordered Ibrahim to be flogged for having sexual relations with her husband, since her marriage is not recognized by officials.Ibrahim refused a court order Sunday giving her several days to renounce her Christian faith, which resulted in the sentencing Thursday….Ibrahim, currently jailed with her son, will be allowed to give birth and raise her second child until the age of 2 years but then faces execution. Sudanese authorities refuse to allow Ibrahim’s son to reside with her husband because the husband is Christian.

Gains by the far-right in the European Union Parliament have Jewish
communities on the continent nervous as they ponder a future in which
parties they see as anti-Semitic secure increasing influence over
policy.Despite the moderate left and right maintaining their majority, the American Jewish Committee noted, “several parties that promote hatred had strong support.”
The AJC bemoaned the fact that Jobbik is now the second largest Hungarian party in the continental legislature, while Greece’s Golden Dawn, a party which utilizes Nazi imagery and whose leaders are open in their admiration of Adolf Hitler, is now in the parliament for the first time and that Austria’s hard right FPO party came in third with just over a fifth of the vote, obtaining four seats.
Daniel Schwammenthal, Director of the AJC Transatlantic Institute said that while the “extent to which these parties will be able to unite to influence European policy remains to be seen,” their presence in the legislature will still “at a minimum, provide a soapbox from which to propagate their vile hatred.”

The Pope made this gesture despite the fact that the wall has saved lives. According to statistics published by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Israel Security Agency, from the beginning of the Second Intifada until the construction of the "first continuous segment" of the barrier in July 2003, 73 Palestinian suicide bombings were carried out from the West Bank, killing 293 Israelis and injuring over 1,900. However, between August 2003 and the end of 2006, only 12 attacks were carried out based in the West Bank, killing 64 Israelis and wounding 445. The trend continued into 2007,and 2008 as well. The numbers of fatalities due to terror attacks have continued to decline since 2002, from 452 in 2002 to 9 in 2010.

Nigerian President to Lead 30,000 Christian Pilgrims to Israel
JNS.org – Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan will lead more than 30,000 Christian pilgrims on an upcoming trip to Israel.
While in Israel, President Jonathan, who is the first sitting Nigerian Christian president to visit Israel, is expected to sign a Bilateral Air Services Agreement between Nigeria and Israel, making it easier for Christian pilgrims to visit, AllAfrica.com reported.
According to Nigeria state media, the first round of 2,000 Christian pilgrims will begin arriving Oct. 19, while President Jonathan is expected to arrive Oct. 23. The president will also be joined by several members of his administration and by other governors.

PA: Israel announced settlement plans in response to Pope's visit to security barrier

The Palestinian Authority on Monday accused Israel of responding to Pope Francis' stop at the security barrier in Bethlehem by announcing plans to build 50 housing units in Har Homa.During his visit to Bethlehem on Sunday, Pope Francis stopped briefly at the security barrier, much to the satisfaction of his Palestinian hosts.
The Palestinians see the Pope's stop at the security barrier as a symbolic act intended to relay his opposition to the presence of the barrier.
Responding to the Jerusalem Municipality's approval of the construction of 50 housing units in Har Homa, Nabil Abu Rudaineh, spokesman for PA President Mahmoud Abbas, said the decision was an "immoral, illogical and uncivilized" Israeli response to the Pope's visit to the "illegal" security fence.
Abu Rudaineh said that Har Homa was a settlement that had been built on lands belonging to Bethlehem families.
