Hizbullah has more arms, fighters than in 2006 - MP

BEIRUT: Hizbullah now has more arms and personnel than it did before the summer 2006 war against Israel, an MP in the party's bloc said on Friday. "The resistance gives the assurance that it has become more powerful in equipment and numbers after the July war" with Israel, said Hassan Fadlallah.
Hizbullah, which has both a political party as well as a military wing, "will not refrain from reinforcing its capabilities," he told Lebanon's state- run National News Agency.
Hizbullah, which has repeatedly touted the strength of its resistance in the summer war of 2006, is part of a national unity government in Lebanon that was formed on July 11.
But negotiations on a policy statement were hampered by disputes on the key issue of the arsenal of Hizbullah, which has continued to insist on the right to resist Israel.
The policy statement insists on "the right of Lebanon, its people, its army and its resistance to liberate its land" that is occupied by Israel.
The controversy in Lebanon over the resistance's weapons boiled over last may during clashes that saw Hizbullah and other opposition fighters battling with pro-government gunmen in various parts of the country. The fighting, which saw Hizbullah lead an armed takeover of large swathes of west Beirut, erupted after the government moved to dismantle the movement's telecommunications network and sacked a security official at Rafik Hariri International airport. At least 65 people were killed in the conflict, which sparked fears of a return to all-out civil war. - AFP
Comment: The international community has witnessed the Islamic takeover by a terrorist organization sponsored by Iran of a once proud secular-operated country. The blueprint has been put int play and we stand idly by, doing nothing. This is but the beginning of a radical culture going unchecked before our eyes-may our grand children forgive us.
