The damage you have wrought ...

Kuntar to get state welcoming

THE JERUSALEM POST

Samir Kuntar and four other Lebanese prisoners will receive an official state welcoming when they are released by Israel on Wednesday as part of the prisoner swap with Hizbullah.

The five men will be greeted at Beirut's airport by Prime Minister Fuad Saniora and President Michel Suleiman.

Later, a huge rally will be held in the capital's southern suburbs where Hizbullah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah will speak, the group's Al-Manar TV has said. French news agency AFP reports that the coastal road from the Israeli border to the southern port city of Sidon has been covered with Hizbullah decorations, and hundreds of volunteers have been hanging banners to praise Hizbullah's role in the prisoners' release throughout the south of the country.

In Kuntar's home in Abey, streets are decorated with banners welcoming the return of the former member of the radical Palestine Liberation Front. "Samir Kuntar is the conscience of Lebanon, Palestine and the Arab nation. Abey welcomes the hero, prisoner Samir Kuntar," reads one sign.

Meanwhile, a senior Hizbullah official has said Israel's approval of a prisoner swap with his group is an "official admission of defeat."

Hizbullah's commander in south Lebanon, Sheik Nabil Kaouk, said Tuesday that Wednesday's prisoner exchange showed Israel's "humiliating failure in confronting the resistance militarily and politically."

The cabinet gave final approval for the deal Tuesday, a day ahead of the expected return of five Lebanese prisoners to Lebanon, Samir Kuntar among them in exchange for Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser.

Comment: This action by Israel, forced, coerced and/or influenced and supported by the EU and the USA does more harm to the possibility of peace than you can believe. This is perceived ,promoted and practiced as weakness by Israel. The enemy now believes, perhaps correctly, that we are "ripe for the taking"-they believe that a major political corner has been turned-Israel must appease all of Hizzbollah-this has a step down effect upon Hamas, Fatah and all other of our enemies. This is not one step toward peace, this is many steps away from the strength that enabled Israel to exist among tens of millions of Arab Islamic enemies. For those foolish, ignorant politicians, academics, pundits in America and the EU, you know not of what you speak-your arrogant attitude is about to bring the world untold hostility. You blindly or intentionally have decided to remain mentally challenged with regard to events here in our neighborhood. To sit here among the constant danger of attack and hear Presidential candidates spew such nonsense about strategies and tactics for the ME is enough to make one ill. No reasonable, caring, thoughtful human being would dare profess the inane thoughts of failure-yet you continue to demonstrate your total naivety and you become part of THE problem. All is more the pity, you do not even know it, understand it or acknowledge this as a possibility. You sit among the stench of ignorance, cowardice and appeasement all the while praising yourselves as the righteous ones.
