Humanitarian effort to Gaza continues

The Kerem Shalom, Karni, Nahal Oz and Erez crossings operated yesterday (Sunday) enabling humanitarian movements and transfer of humanitarian goods in to Gaza. Throughout the day, a total of 142 trucks with 3783 tons of supplies at the request of The World Food Programme, the World Health Organizsation, and Care . Also, goods for the private and public sectors that included communications equipment (for the cellular companies) meat and dairy products, canned food, oil, diapers, reproductive eggs, powdered milk flour, sugar and rice. Also, 792,000 liters of heavy duty diesel for the Gaza power station were transferred via the Nahal Oz fuel depot. Karni conveyor operated and transferred 1848 tons of different types of grain.

Due to two different incidents of organized theft of humanitarian aid by Hamas terrorists, UNRWA has still not resumed shipping of aid in to Gaza.

Today (Monday), approximately 200 trucks are scheduled to ship goods in to Gaza via Kerem Shalom and Karni. Also, the Nahal Oz fuel depot is expected to operate for pumping of fuel.

In the ongoing humanitarian effort, since the unilateral cease fire (18/1/2009), 77,184 tons of aid and 5,569,908 liters of fuel for the Gaza power station have been delivered to the Gaza Strip.
