MJ Rosenberg asks in POLITICO’s Oct. 22 issue, “Why Is the Pro-Israel Right So Afraid of J Street?” The answer is that everyone who is pro-Israel has reason to be opposed to the anti-Israel positions of this group. It has asked members to lobby against sanctions on Iran, when the only alternative is war or acquiescence. When Israel went to war to defend itself from Hamas missiles, J Street spoke out against Israel instead of against the terrorists. When the Goldstone report unfairly criticized Israel for trumped-up “war crimes,” J Street supported the Israel bashers. When President Barack Obama honored former Irish President Mary Robinson, who oversaw the pillorying of Israel at the festival of racism in Durban, South Africa, J Street supported the president.
Far from being “afraid” of J Street, the pro-Israel community is simply acknowledging the presence of an opposing organization. J Street is wrong on Hamas and the role it should play in negotiations. It is wrong about the Saudi plan, which requires the virtual dismantling of the Jewish state. On every major issue between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, J Street takes the side of the PA. J Street argues that pressure must be put on this tiny country, for its own good. The arrogance of that position has never worried friends of J Street such as Stephen Walt, co-author of the notorious “The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy.”
In addition, there are the personal connections of the people behind J Street. Former Israeli diplomat Lenny Ben-David has revealed that director Jeremy Ben Ami was previously employed by a communications firm that assisted a Qatari foundation in a campaign to demonize Israel for its response to aggression from Gaza. (According to a Zionist Organization of America press release this week.) It also appears that he lied in claiming that J Street has only five Islamic donors. In fact, there is significant Arab backing for this supposedly pro-Israel organization.
Finally, J Street has consistently misrepresented the opinions of American and Israeli Jews. A recent Smith Research Institute poll shows that Israelis, by a decisive 69 percent to 27 percent, oppose freezing construction within large Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria and that only 4 percent of Israelis favor Obama’s policies. In the United States, a July Global Marketing Services poll of American Jews who are Democrats shows 55 percent believe that Obama is naive in thinking Palestinians want peace. Only 27 percent supported Obama’s promoting of a Palestinian state and 52 percent said Israel should be allowed to build in existing settlements.

Guest Comment:No organization can claim to be pro-Israel when Arabs back it up and donate to it.
Therefore, J Street claiming to be a pro-Israel organization is an utter lie.
J Street is very dangerous to Israel and the entire world too!
