Debunking the Gaza Siege Myth

Jacob Shrybman

Later this month activists on a convoy of ships plan to sail for Gaza in the context of breaking the Gaza siege. What siege? International humanitarian aid has been flowing freely into Gaza for years.30,576 aid trucks entered the territory in 2009. During the week of April 11-17, 500 trucks with over 17,000 tons of humanitarian aid entered Gaza. In addition, the UN has pumped $200 million into Gaza following last winter's Israeli military operation to halt rocket fire.

In 2009, 10,544 Gazans and their companions left Gaza for medical treatment. During the week of April 11-17, nearly 500 patients and companions crossed from Gaza into Israel for medical treatment, while another over 100 Gaza residents crossed into Israel for other reasons, and roughly 200 internationals crossed in and out of Gaza. Comment:
This blog has been reporting the nature of the aide going into Gaza from Israel for some time now. I have posted the data on my side bars. The narrative of the Gaza siege is simply that, it is a narrative that is false, based upon intentional lies, misrepresentation of facts and is reinforced by a media system that refuses to report on the data offered above in this short message. It is true that there are some period of times when we,in Israel, stop all transports-why? We have been attacked by the ruling party in Gaza, they have either bombed or sent rockets into our civilian areas. These closures last a short time and the gates are re-opened. Yes, it has been true that we did not allow cement or some other building materials into Gaza-why? They used the materials to build tunnels. The tunnels, from Egypt to Gaza bring in guns, munitions, bomb making materials, and now rockets. The tunnel system has become a money making machine for Hamas as they charge enormous "taxes" or fees for goods brought through this tunnel system. This money is not used to develop or build the necessary infrastructure one would think a caring group of people would build; no, it is used to control their own population and to create havoc among Israel's southern towns and cities.

The media knows all of this and chooses to not report it-why? Ask them and I'll say that certain major media want access into Gaza or to certain leaders and they know if they report any negative news about the ruling class aka Hamas or report the truth about the aide getting into Gaza the reporters will be denied access. In addition, given that Hamas does not produce anything, goods or services other than terror, their own money trees would fade away. What do I mean? Gaza is funded by outside groups and nations who choose to do so for their own personal reasons.

One should remember that fellow Arabs in Egypt border upon Gaza-Egypt ran Gaza from 1948-1967-they had and have a relationship. Ask yourself, why does Egypt have a closed gate policy with Gaza today? Why is Egypt building a concrete-steel reinforced fence under ground between Gaza and Egypt? Is it not appropriate and accurate to say that the siege of Gaza belongs on the Egypt border rather than the Israeli border? Why has the Arab League not come down hard on Egypt, why have they not demanded that Egypt open its gates to their "brothers" Where has the United Nations been and why does it not condemn Egypt? Why are there no resolutions against Egypt in the UN?

You want the truth-here it is-I can give you more and more data but as Jack said "You can't handle the truth"- now prove me incorrect and start reporting the facts.
