An attempt is made to share the truth regarding issues concerning Israel and her right to exist as a Jewish nation. This blog has expanded to present information about radical Islam and its potential impact upon Israel and the West. Yes, I do mix in a bit of opinion from time to time.

Cast Lead, Bibi and Polls
Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu Cast Lead, Bibi and Polls
The London Independent said that Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu's strength in pre-election polls may have prompted outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Ehud Barak to launch the Operation Cast Lead counterterrorist campaign against Hamas terror.Reporters at a news conference Tuesday asked him if he thought the war against Hamas terror was prompted by his strong showing among the electorate. "I haven't any idea," MK Netanyahu responded. The Independent added, "It was a reply that strictly adhered to the ban on electioneering imposed during Operation Cast Lead. But it was hardly a denial."
The former Prime Minister's press conference was aimed at the audience overseas, particularly United States President-elect Barack Obama and Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton.
MK Netanyahu told foreign reporters that if he is chosen to form the next government, he will work with Clinton, whose husband was at constant odds with the Likud leader when he was Prime Minister in the late 1990s.
He "spoke explicitly about the need to start 'rolling back' the attacks from abroad on Israel's conduct of the war – attacks which he said have a 'dual feature,'" the Independent reported.
"It is not true that Israel is targeting civilians. It does everything in its power to minimize civilian casualties but these are inevitable in a war in which the terrorists embed themselves in the civilian population... what would you do if your country was rocketed for a full eight years with thousands of rockets?" he told the press.
The newspaper noted that the apparent Prime Minister-to-be made comments that give him plenty of room to criticize the government if it does not meet his requirements.
"The government has had and will continue to have my support… I also said that Hamas, a terror organization that is committed to our destruction, must ultimately be removed from Gaza," the Likud chairman said. "Should the government decide to seek that objective, it will also have our support."
