F-16 fighter-Yes to Egypt; NO to Israel

OBAMA SPEECH LINKED TO F-16 DEAL Egypt's hosting of President Barack Obama's "mutual respect" speech to the Muslim world came at the same time the Obama administration quietly was agreeing to Egypt's longstanding request to purchase some 24 F-16 fighters. The Egyptian request for Lockheed Martin's F-16s and other munitions had been repeatedly denied by the former Bush administration. Those munitions included the Longbow Apache helicopter, mobile air defense systems and the Joint Direct Attack Munition which is a guidance kit that converts existing unguided or "dumb" bombs into "smart" munitions. Israel's request for the same equipment has been refused

Plan #2-Israel's plan-yes, there are other ideas Mr. Obama

1. Israel Is entitled by Res 242 to secure borders otherwise known as defensible borders.

2. Israel does not recognize any obligation to retreat from all the land and therefore there is no justification for demanding mutual exchanges of land.

3. Israel will not offer more land to the new entity than the 93% already offered and such offer may be withdrawn at any time.

4. Israel will consider offering Israeli land on which Arabs live in exchange for the settlements.

5. Israel must retain Maaleh Adumin and Ariel.

6. Israel is not obligated to connect Gaza to Judea and Samaria.

7. Israel will not abandon the Roadmap, requiring an end to violence and incitement, for the Arab Initiative. For Obama to embrace the Plan, is to prejudge the outcome.

8. The Arab Initiative has no standing in the peace process. It is just an offer.

Endgame of Saudi Plan

The Saudi Plan calls on Israel to cede Gaza and all land east of the 1949 armistice line, including much of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, to the Palestinian Authority. Israel would also be required to cede the strategic Golan Heights region to Syria.

In addition, the plan requires Israel to release all terrorists currently in its prisons, and to offer citizenship to millions of foreign Arabs who say they are descended from Arabs who fled pre-state Israel during the War of Independence.

In exchange, Arab states would normalize their ties with the Jewish State.

In Israel, the plan has met with little support. Enacting the plan would force roughly 600,000 Israelis from their homes. In addition, senior defense officials have warned that the plan would compromise Israel`s security.

Planet Cooling, Not Warming

Which is exactly why the Big Green Scare Machine has shifted into overdrive. After all, the planet is cooling, not warming. IPCC models predicted 1°F warming by 2011, but there’s been none since 1998, so they are well on their way to being proven completely wrong. In fact, the 1°F drop in 2008 was the largest global temperature change ever recorded. 2008 was the coolest year and March 2009 was the coolest March of the century. Meanwhile, diminished sunspot activity since 2000 and Pacific Sea Surface cooling since 2008 predict a 20-30 year global cooling due to short term Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO).

The company which discovered abundant gas reserves off the coast of Haifa in January has begun drilling in a new site, west of Hadera.

Noble Energy Inc., the Houston-based partner of Isramco Ltd., Delek Group Ltd., and Avner Oil and Gas LP, said the new offshore well, named Dalit-1, is located approximately 60 kilometers west of Hadera.

The company moved its rig on the ship "Atwood Hunter" to the new drill site on Friday after having completed drilling at the Tamar-1 well 90 kilometers west of Haifa. The Tamar-1 find was eventually discovered to be more than 60 percent larger than originally estimated, according to Noble Energy officials -- reportedly more than enough to fuel the State of Israel for at least 15 years

There is a 40 percent chance the company will find commercial quantities of up to 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas at the site, referred to as the Michal prospect, according to the Globes business news agency.

Israel: Two-thirds of Palestinians killed in Gaza fighting were terrorists

Only 288 were innocent civilians, the report says. The Palestinians reported 1,330 fatalities but did not submit their names.

Channel 2 cited a report issued by Military Intelligence and the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, listing 1,134 Palestinian fatalities, 673 of which belonged to Hamas and other groups.

Israel says that about two-thirds of the Palestinians who were killed in the Gaza fighting were members of terror organizations who took part in the fighting, Channel 2 News reported Thursday.

The Palestinian - blames the Israeli for the fly falling in his coffee, protests the act of aggression to the UN, takes a loan from the European Union to buy a new cup of coffee, uses the money to purchase explosives and then blows up the coffee house where the Italian, the Frenchman, The Chinese, and the Russian are all trying to explain to te Israeli that he should give away his cup of coffee to the Palestinian.

Hamas children's propaganda film
reinforces illusion of war victory

On the first day of its ceasefire with Israel, Hamas has added a new element to its propaganda campaign claiming that it won the war in Gaza. An animated film for children on Hamas TV depicts Israeli soldiers as cowards who are afraid to enter Gaza. They cry, "Mommy, Mommy," as they head into battle, where they are all killed by Hamas gunfire.

The video ends with an Israeli soldier's blood splattered on the screen, accompanied by a caption that reads, "Whoever dares, let him come! Gaza is his certain death."

Observers have reported that hundreds of Hamas fighters were killed in the conflict, while Israel lost 10 soldiers in combat and three civilians in rocket attacks. However, in the attempt to present this war as a victory, Hamas TV reported today that Hamas lost only 48 fighters and killed 80 Israelis, including 49 soldiers.

This film aims to reinforce the victory myth that Hamas is trying to sell to its people.

Humanitarian aide to Gaza

When and how did the Arab-Israeli conflict morph into the "Palestinian"-Israeli conflict?

Did you know that:

The "Palestinians" were not considered to be a party to UN 242 and 338. They were not a recognized "separate entity", nor are they one.

The so-called "Palestinians are a conglomeration of Arabs from Egypt, Syria and the farthest reaches of the Arab world.

The "Palestinian" refugee problem was created by the Arabs themselves to promote the fiction of "Palestinians."

In the 18th and 19th centuries there were 50,000 Arabs in all of Eretz Yisrael-Arabs, not "Palestinians"! These Arabs were for the most part landless Fellahin working the unproductive soil for foreign landlords.

Most Arabs who lived in Israel in 1948 (then 600,000) came to Eretz Yisrael through British "largesse" during the League of Nations Mandate period, which provided for the return of Jewish exiles, only.

All it took for an Arab to become a bonefide "refugee", recognized by UNRWA, was two years residence anywhere in Eretz Yisrael. But even many of those Arabs who had no such residency were able to receive refugee status simply by claiming poverty.

The Arab-designated "refugee camps" are breeding grounds for terrorism. their children are trained-in UNRWA-supported areas-for jihad, not peace.

Until and unless these UNRWA-supported terrorist enclaves are dissolved, there will not be any kind of peace.

Proportionate response

Question: Was four years of war, followed by eight years of occupation of Japan and the destruction of Japan's native religion (by compelling the Emperor to go on the radio and tell the Japanese that he wasn't divine) a proportionate response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor? Over 3,000 people were killed at Pearl Harbor. Wouldn't the bombing of a Japanese port, the sinking of some Japanese ships and the destruction of Japanese planes, resulting in the deaths of a few thousand Japanese, have been the only proportionate response? And so wasn't the Pacific theater of World War II a wildly disproportionate response on the part of the Allies?

Also, have you ever noticed that the only state in the world that is ever guilty of a disproportionate response to violent attacks from its enemies is Israel?

PA daily: Media are manipulating Gaza news

A Palestinian journalist has complained that the media and others are manipulating the images going out to the world:

"A mother of one of the martyrs stood by the door of the intensive care unit while crying... relatives and those around her were telling her what she should say to the television cameras: 'Say your son [before he died] prayed and went out.' Another tells her: 'Curse the Arab leaders'... The journalists [in the hospitals] are going overboard in their insensitivity and taking advantage of the [difficult] moments, with the explanation that they are showing this to the world. One cameraman told a mourning mother: 'Hit your face, cry, do some action.'"

A Palestinian girl whose family members was killed yesterday in Gaza after an Israeli air attack was interviewed today on Palestinian TV and placed the blame for the war on Hamas:

"Disproportionate" use of force-another opinion

Predictably, a European Union spokesman has raised the shibboleth of "disproportionate" use of force in describing Israel's attacks on Hamas fighters in Gaza. In New York State, a driver who sustains a third conviction for DWI is subject to up to seven years in jail. Medicare providers are subject to a fine of $10,000 per incident of fraudulent billing, even when the amount involved is much less. These penalties are proportionate not to the harm done but to the need to prevent additional unacceptable behavior. Israelis have suffered from years of escalating shelling from Hamas ruled Gaza. As with our legal code, Israel's response to these unprovoked attacks is commensurate not to the damage done but rather calibrated to the need to bring Hamas violence to a complete stop. That is a proportionate response, and no nation on the planet would accept anything else.

Facts Forgotten or Intentionally Misplaced

Myth: Israel's occupation of the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and the Gaza Strip during the Six-Day War caused Palestinian terrorism. Fact: Arab terrorism not only pre-dates Israeli control of the disputed territories, but also the creation of Israel itself. The car and truck bombs of Islamic extremists in today's Middle East and beyond are nothing new; a triple-truck bombing at Jerusalem's Zion Square on Feb. 22, 1948 murdered 54 Jews and wounded many others. It was organized by Abdul Khader al-Husseini at the behest of the Palestinian leader, Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. This was almost three months before Israel's independence, more than 19 years before Israel gained the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Myth: Solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly by ending Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, is the key to Middle East stability. Fact: Reality repeatedly contradicts this naive notion. Nevertheless, people who ought to know better periodically endorse it. For example, former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan declared that "as long as the Palestinians live under occupation, so long will passions everywhere be inflamed." British Prime Minister Tony Blair alleged that an Israeli-Palestinian settlement was "the core" of efforts to resolve other Middle East problems and to defeat "global extremism." Why Hasn't the Muslim World Lifted a Finger for Darfur?

Of UNRWA's $462 million 2006 budget, $137m. came from the US, $41m. from Sweden, $27m. from the UK and $12m. from Denmark. Saudi Arabia, the world's richest oil-producer, managed to scrape a mere $1.2m. Smaller Kuwait managed a tad more with $1.5m., still a drop in its overflowing oil bucket. The rest of the Arab states are even less generous. Oil-rich Bahrain spared no more than $30,000. Indeed the Arab world's share has declined. In the 1980s it financed 8% of UNRWA's outlay. By 2006 it put in less than 3%.

Lost Historical Moments

Finally, were you aware of ...

As a dramatic spike in terrorism led Israel to impose repeated closures, unemployment in Gaza rose as high as 50 percent and by 1996 economic output declined about one-third. From that year to 1999 the situation improved under Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as terror reverted to pre-Oslo levels and the Israeli closures decreased.

But Netanyahu lost to Ehud Barak in the 1999 election, and the rest is well-known recent history: Barak’s rejected offer of statehood to Arafat in summer 2000, the outbreak that fall of the Al-Aqsa Intifada and Gaza’s (and the West Bank’s) conversion into a launching pad for an all-out terror war necessitating Israeli closures and other measures, Gaza’s severance from Israel under the 2005 disengagement plan, Hamas’s win in the 2006 election and takeover of Gaza in June 2007—leaving Gaza in a state of violent squalor comparable only to Mogadishu and with its residents apparently longing for the “occupation” once seen as the epitome of evil.

With that “occupation”—bête noire of just about everyone from scruffy radicals to State Department squares, from oil sheikhs to British profs—partially gone from the West Bank and gone from Gaza, Gaza-2007 is one of the many dire results. In reality, the Israeli administration of the territories brought great socioeconomic benefits to the Palestinians there and great security benefits to Israel, along with a problematic psychological situation of dhimmi-Jewish rule over Muslim Arabs that was not really the greatest of evils, far from it, and would have required a solution involving genuinely moderate Palestinians and genuine security guarantees for Israel.

But the world didn’t have the patience for that, and now the indigent jihadist statelet on the Mediterranean is the world’s problem.

What Rabin’s last Knesset speech really said:repudiation of a Palestinian state

Rabin ruled out a fully sovereign Palestinian state :

“We view the permanent solution in the framework of State of Israel which will include most of the area of the Land of Israel as it was under the rule of the British Mandate, and alongside it a Palestinian entity which will be a home to most of the Palestinian residents living in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. We would like this to be an entity which is less than a state, and which will independently run the lives of the Palestinians under its authority.”

Rabin ruled out a total withdrawal from Judea and Samaria and thus a return to the pre-June 1967 borders :

“The borders of the State of Israel, during the permanent solution, will be beyond the lines which existed before the Six Day War. We will not return to the 4 June 1967 lines.”

Rabin ruled out withdrawing form the Jordan Valley:

“The security border of the State of Israel will be located in the Jordan Valley, in the broadest meaning of that term.”

Rabin ruled out uprooting settlement blocs, like the Gush Katif bloc in Gaza (which was subsequently uprooted by former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon):

“The establishment of blocs of settlements in Judea and Samaria, like the one in Gush Katif.

AND

Rabin ruled out removing any settlement before coming to a full peace agreement with the Palestinians:

“I want to remind you: we committed ourselves, that is, we came to an agreement, and committed ourselves before the Knesset, not to uproot a single settlement in the framework of the interim agreement, and not to hinder building for natural growth.”

Rabin insisted on Israel retaining full security control of the borders with Egypt and Jordan, contrary to Israel’s relinquishment of the Philadelphia Corridor on the border with Egypt:

“The responsibility for external security along the borders with Egypt and Jordan, as well as control over the airspace above all of the territories and Gaza Strip maritime zone, remains in our hands.”

Now that NASA has corrected its US temperature records, the hottest year on record is no longer 1998, but 1934. Five of the ten hottest years since 1880 were between 1920 and 1940 – and the 15 hottest years since 1880 are spread across seven decades. This suggests natural variation, not a warming trend.

Carbon dioxide did not cause the end of the last ice age, a new study in Science suggests, contrary to past inferences from ice core records.

"There has been this continual reference to the correspondence between CO2 and climate change as reflected in ice core records as justification for the role of CO2 in climate change," said USC geologist Lowell Stott, lead author of the study, slated for advance online publication Sept. 27 in Science Express.

"You can no longer argue that CO2 alone caused the end of the ice ages."

Deep-sea temperatures warmed about 1,300 years before the tropical surface ocean and well before the rise in atmospheric CO2, the study found. The finding suggests the rise in greenhouse gas was likely a result of warming and may have accelerated the meltdown - but was not its main cause.

Correcting Oslo Myths-Part 2

3) Kuttab laments that the post-1993 Oslo process resulted in a Palestinian Authority "whose ministers and legislators are not guaranteed passage between Gaza and the West Bank ...."

Before free passage or other perquisites, PA leaders were obligated, among other things, to eliminate the terrorist infrastructure in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, end anti-Israeli, antisemitic incitement in schools, mosques, and communications media, and resolve all outstanding issues through peaceful negotiations. They met none of these commitments, sometimes bolstering terrorism and greatly increasing incitement.

4) Kuttab complains that under Oslo the PA got "lightly armed police ---- but no real sovereignty over the land or contiguity between our communities in Gaza and the West Bank."

Oslo agreements repeatedly were revised, regardless of Palestinian non-compliance, until the authorized number of police grew from 8,000 to 40,000. Though they were to be the only armed forces in the territories, Israeli estimates early in the second intifada put the number of gunmen - police, "security services," terrorists, and armed gangs - at 85,000. Their armament reportedly included not only heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades, but also anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles.

Sovereignty was to be negotiated in the envisioned 1998 "final status" talks - after a five-year period of confidence-building. Palestinian leadership chronically undermined the process. Palestinian terrorism made the 1993 - 1998 Oslo period more deadly for Israelis than the 15 years preceding it.

The United States doesn't have contiguity between the lower 48 states and Alaska and Hawaii; territorial contiguity between the West Bank and Gaza Strip - that is, through the 20 miles of Israeli territory between them - was never promised and would destroy Israeli contiguity.

5) "Palestinians have been made to endure hundreds of checkpoints in the West Bank, an eight-foot wall deep in our territories, and tight Israeli control over borders."

The security barrier is not "deep in Palestinian territories," but rather encompasses less than 8 percent of Judea and Samaria, and is mostly a fence, rarely a wall; the land in question is not "our [Palestinian] territories" but disputed territory to which, according to the authors of U.N. Security Council Resolution 242, Jews as well as Arabs have claims; and there are no international borders, only the 1949 armistice lines with Jordan. Under 242, borders remain to be negotiated. As for checkpoints - like the security barrier and "tight Israeli control" - Palestinian Arabs precipitated these measures themselves. No terrorism and there would be no fence or tight Israeli control and few checkpoints - like before the first intifada.

Correcting Some Oslo Myths

1) In Oslo "Israeli, Palestinian and other world leaders promised that ... Palestinian sovereignty would be solidified."

No, they didn't. The 1993 Declaration of Principles and subsequent Oslo agreements outlined a process by which final status negotiations about the West Bank and Gaza Strip would be reached. The process required an end to anti-Israel terrorism and incitement and a commitment to peaceful negotiations. The PA, Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and other terrorist groups, sabotaged the process from the start.

2) "The reality is that, in defiance of U.N. Security Council Resolution 242, which states that it is inadmissible to occupy land by force, Palestinian territories are still under foreign military occupation."
Wrong again. Resolution 242 (1967) does note "the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war." It also affirms the right of every state in the area "to live in peace with secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force." There were no "Palestinian territories." Jordan occupied the West Bank, Egypt controlled Gaza. Israel did not have "secure and recognized boundaries," so retention of some of those territories was possible under 242. Israel is not a "foreign" military occupier in the West Bank but, pending final negotiations, the lawful military administrator as a result of a successful war of self-defense.

1. With regard to foreign aid to Israel, the reason that $3.0 billion was agreed upon back in 1979 was that Israel abandoned its oil wells in the Sinai which equated to $3.0 billion in oil production per year at $8-10 a barrel of oil. How much would it be in today's market?

Egypt has been receiving a similar financial assistance package from the US since getting control of the Sinai, by just signing a worthless piece of paper at Camp David, and has done nothing to promote peace with Israel since than. Does anyone make any noise to say that the US must stop its aid to Egypt? Has Egypt said "thank you" to the good old USA?
