Exclusive: Bush All Class; Obama All Crass

Can any of you remember George W. Bush kvetching when he was attacked personally by his critics? When he was called a war criminal, compared to Hitler, dismissed as a moron and given other classy monikers, did he whine and moan about the unfairness of it all?

Neither can I. Neither can I recall his administration urging Americans to report anyone passing along “fishy” information about White House policy, creating a special e-mail designated for that purpose. And did he constantly blame the Clinton administration for any woes he encountered? Again, not to my recollection. How about constant apologies for America and the way we do business? Er, no. Bush was proud of his nation and his efforts to keep American interests at the top of his agenda. The American people deserve nothing less from the man who occupies the highest office in the land.

And during the Bush presidency, I certainly don’t remember Democrat leadership on the Hill denouncing those who didn’t agree with Bush policy, foreign or domestic. In fact, Hillary Clinton she was “sick and tired” of being branded as unpatriotic for disagreeing, and Nancy Pelosi praised the far left blogsphere for their role in holding government accountable.

What a difference an election makes!

Today, Barack Obama not only continues – nearly eight months into his administration – to blame Bush for the “mess” he inherited, but also commands those he accuses of making the mess to stop talking and “get out of the way.” n other words, shut your cakehole. His tactics also include telling supporters to “get in the faces” of those whom they are trying to persuade to see things his way.

Obama’s World Apology Tour was among his first priorities while in office – and his latest apology is to Canada for those American cretins who dare to compare ObamaCare to Canada’s socialist system: "I don't find Canadians particularly scary, but I guess some of the opponents of reform think that they make a good bogeyman.”

Who said snark was dead?

As for the Democrat leadership – now that they have their hands on the reins of power, they aren’t too pleased with the “dissent is patriotic” meme. Nancy Pelosi denounced town hall attendees for carrying around signs with swastikas (I could only find one photo with a swastika – and it was crossed out). I guess the Botox injections erased select memories of the past eight years, eh Nancy? And she and Steny Hoyer got together and penned an op-ed in one of America’s largest news dailies denouncing opposition to ObamaCare as “un-American.” I’m glad those two weren’t around in 1775, otherwise we might still be a part of the British Commonwealth.

No, George W. Bush took his lumps. Being a big boy, he realized that he would be a target for those who didn’t agree with him and that in politics, a lot of mud gets slung around.

When Barack Obama campaigned, he promised change. Change is certainly something we’ve received – and there are a whole lot of people who are unhappy with it. And instead of accepting that people will be unhappy with some or all of his policies, he and his party whine about “un-American” opposition and tell us to keep quiet. His press secretary waded into the muck by mocking protesters, calling them the “Brooks Brothers brigade” – and the “angry mob” talking point is spreading like wildfire amongst the Democrats and their liberal media cheerleaders.

Our elected leaders are here to serve us – not the other way around. The American people deserve more respect than that has been shown to us lately. (Has your House representative yelled at you yet?)

The “great uniter” has become the “great divider” – and anyone who knows of his Saul Alinsky roots will understand that this was the goal all along. Hope and change was the myth; this is the reality.

If this is the sort of thing that will get me flagged, fine. The address is flag@whitehouse.gov. I’m proud to be a member of the loyal opposition. I’m still proud of being an American – nothing will change that – and I’ll do everything within my power to preserve the America I grew up with for my children. Someday in the near future, it’ll be nice to have adults running Washington again.
