When we scan the American academic landscape in search of venomous, rancorous purveyors of unconcealed Jew-hatred on university campuses, we will find nary a figure more striking than Amir-Abdel Malik-Ali. A frequent guest lecturer at Muslim Students Association and Muslim Student Union events, Malik-Ali is an Oakland, California-based Imam who cut his ideological teeth as a member of the Nation of Islam, the organization whose infamous leader, Louis Farrakhan, is well known for his fiery denunciations of “white devils” and Jewish “bloodsuckers.” Malik-Ali is a passionate supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah, a pair of Islamic terror groups resolutely committed to the obliteration of Israel and the mass murder of Jews. So fervently does Malik-Ali approve of those twin objectives, that he candidly endorses suicide bombings as a legitimate “resistance” tactic to be employed against Israel: “Palestinian mothers are supporting their children who are suicide bombers, saying, ‘Go honey, go!’ That ain’t suicide; that’s martyrdom.”
A devoted admirer of the late Malcolm X, Malik-Ali is a leader of the As-Sabiqun movement which: aims to “enable Islam to take complete control of … the lives of all human beings on Earth”; strives to “direct the society toward Islamic revolution”; and venerates such iconic Jew-haters as the late Ayatollah Khomeini (Iran’s former Supreme Leader) and Hasan al-Banna (founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, the godfather organization to Hamas and al Qaeda).
Malik-Ali is also part of the Al-Masjid movement which is dedicated to creating an Islamic revolution in the United States. His ultimate goal is to see Islamic law dominate American jurisprudence, and he crudely refers to those who oppose this objective as “poop-butts.” “From an Islamic movement we graduate to an Islamic revolution,” he says, “then to an Islamic state…. We must implement Islam as a totality [in which] Allah controls every place -- the home, the classroom, the science lab, the halls of Congress.”
In 2002 Malik-Ali regaled a university audience with the declaration: “Israel wants Palestinians to have their own state. It’s beyond that now. No. That’s off the table. One state. Majority rules. Us. The Muslims.” Two years later he delivered a speech titled “America under Siege: The Zionist Hidden Agenda,” where he characterized Zionism as a mixture of “chosen people-ness and white supremacy”; charged that Zionists had the U.S. “Congress, the media and the FBI in their back pocket”; asserted that the downfall of the Democrats’ then-presidential frontrunner Howard Dean was the result of secret Zionist maneuverings; and claimed that the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad would have assassinated Al Gore if he had won the 2000 presidential election, so as to elevate his Jewish vice president, Joe Lieberman, to the Oval Office.
Wherever Malik-Ali turns his gaze, he sees Jewish malfeasance. In May 2006 he accused the “apartheid State of Israel” of carrying out a “holocaust” and a “genocide” against the Palestinian people. Speaking from a podium whose facade was adorned with a banner that read, “Israel, the 4th Reich,” he referred to Jews as “new Nazis” and “a bunch of straight-up punks.” He then told Jews directly: “The truth of the matter is your days are numbered. We will fight you. We will fight you until we are either martyred or until we are victorious.”
At UC Irvine’s 2007 “Israel: Apartheid Resurrected” week sponsored by the Muslim Student Union, Malik-Ali delivered a lecture wherein he informed Muslim students that nothing is more honorable than dying as a martyr in battle against infidels. “Victory or martyrdom,” he asserted, are the only two viable options available to the Palestinians in their conflict with Israel. Refusing to recognize the legitimacy of Israel’s existence, Malik-Ali referred to that country not by its name, but only as the “Zionist Apartheid State.”
In Malik-Ali’s view of the world, virtually every calamity can ultimately be blamed on Israel and the Jews. He tells us, for instance, “The wars against Iraq were manufactured by the Jews in America to avert attention from the two [Palestinian] Intifadas.” He explains that “the Israelis were in control of 9-11,” an event that “was staged to give an excuse to wage war against Muslims around the world.” And he tells university students that “the Zionist Jews were behind” the Danish cartoon controversy that sparked Muslim riots around the world in 2005.
As a logical extension of his contempt for Jews and Israel, Malik-Ali has characterized Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has openly called for Israel to be “wiped off the face of the earth,” as a “pretty good guy.”
In the pantheon of Jew-hating bigots who spread their filth on college campuses, Amir-Abdel Malik-Ali plays second fiddle to no one.
