Has our government taken leave of their senses?

The distance between the "settlement" Ramat Shlomo- where the announcement of plans for the construction of new homes made during V.P. Biden's recent visit in Israel ostensibly sparked the outburst of US chagrin - is 2.1 miles from Israel's national legislature, the Knesset. (see pg 1 of attachment) * This is less than the distance between Du Pont Circle in Washington, and the US legislature in the Capitol. (see pg.2 of attachment).



Now please take a look at the stated goal of the allegedly moderate Fatah movement headed by the alleged moderates Abbas and Fayyad :



" Complete liberation of Palestine, and eradication of Zionist economic, political, military and cultural existence" (Article 12 Fatah Constitution) .



and the means by this is to be achieved :



"Armed struggle is a strategy and not a tactic… will not cease unless the Zionist state is demolished and Palestine is completely liberated." (Article 12 Fatah Constitution) .



[The "Zionist state" is of course Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people –MS]



Significantly, Fatah refrained from amending this 1964 constitution at their 2009 convention in the once Christian majority town of Bethlehem. Christians made up 75% of the population, but by 1998 this figure had declined to 23%.



(The Fatah Constitution should not be confused with the allegedly amended "Palestinian Charter" which still states that " the establishment of the state of Israel [is] entirely illegal, regardless of the passage of time " – Article 19))



It should be recalled that Fatah was established in the mid-50s and carried out its first attack against Israel in 1965 before any "occupation" of territories now claimed for Palestinian state, or the construction of "settlements" now cited as the "root cause" of Palestinian displeasure



So plans to build within an existing neighborhood 2 miles from the national parliament is a reason to precipitate an international crisis but the unswerving and undisguised resolve to destroy the Jewish state (aka the "Zionist entity") by the "moderate" Palestinian faction goes without reprimand?
