TEHRAN (FNA)- The agreement made in Iran after talks with Brazilian and Turkish officials on the swap of nuclear fuel was a big diplomatic achievement for the country, an Iranian vice-president said on Wednesday.

"The Tehran agreement was a great diplomatic, political and nuclear triumph for our country," Vice-President for Parliamentary Affairs Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Reza Mirtajeddini told FNA. Mirtajeddini reiterated that the parliament supports the agreement in general. Based on the agreement, Iran will send some 1200 kg of its 3.5 percent enriched uranium to Turkey in exchange for a total of 120 kg of 20 percent enriched fuel.

Also according to the agreement, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will officially receive a letter with regard to the swap deal "within a week".

Based on the agreement, the fuel swap will take place nearly a month after receiving official approval from the Vienna Group, which consists of representatives from Iran, France, Russia and the US and the IAEA.

The Iranian lawmakers on Tuesday announced their full support for the 'Tehran Declaration' on the nuclear fuel swap.

A number of 234 Iranian lawmakers in a statement underlined their support for the Declaration, and reiterated, "Now that the US and a number of European countries which are members of the UN Security Council are faced with another examination they can make use of the Tehran agreement as an opportunity to correct some of their previous hostile actions and create a logical path for cooperation, as the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown its utmost goodwill and flexibility in this agreement."

"In this case, if the Tehran agreement is directed correctly, it can become a basis for positive interaction," the Iranian lawmakers reiterated in their statement.

Senior MP Vali Esmae'ili told FNA that Iranian parliamentarians from a wide range of wings and factions, and irrespective of their political tendencies, have announced full support for the deal which was struck after intense talks among Iranian, Brazilian and Turkish officials in Tehran on Monday.

"Members of the parliament from different (political) tendencies laid emphasis on the reinvigoration and support for the Tehran Declaration," Vali Esmae'ili said on Tuesday.
