The story behind the "walking away from the talks"

Note: This is the ME-you should know by now that things are never what they seem initially. Abbas "walks away from the talks" and demands settlement freeze reinstated-you believe this, then you don't understand how it works. Abbas has no authority to negotiate, his term was up nearly 2 years ago. Fatah has its own internal problems, the Arabs of Judea and Samaria are trying to "hold onto" what little control they still have in their own backyard. Abbas has to "walk away", has to blame Israel in order for the following to occur. Abbas never had any intentions of negotiating now with Israel-it is only Obama et al who pushed him into this corner. His bigger, more immediate problem is as follows:

Fatah MP: Party experts to join unity talks on security

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Security experts from rival movements Fatah and Hamas
have been invited to join talks to reach consensus on the last disputed
point of the Egyptian unity document, Fatah official Azzam Al-Ahmad said
Saturday.
Speaking with Ma'an radio, the Fatah lawmaker said security specialists
Majid Farj from his party and Imad Al-A'lami from Hamas will participate in
talks over the remaining security-related issues. "After that, the proposal
will be ratified without any problem and very soon," Al-Ahmad said.

Officials from the rival movement have said that significant progress has
been made following recent talks in Damascus over the ratification of the
Egyptian deal, reaching consensus on issues that Hamas said were points of
contention, including the structure of the PLO, the Central Elections
Committee, and an elections court.

"The last issue is security. If the atmosphere is the same that prevailed in
Damascus, away from irresponsible statements issued in Gaza, then all will
go as we want," Al-Ahmad said, adding that his movement "brought Hamas to
account" for statements it deemed were undermining current talks.

Al-Ahmad further said decisions reached would not be included in appendix to
the Egyptian document, but would be included as notes.
He added that "anyone who does not want to sign would bring up any excuse
not to do so," citing President Mahmoud Abbas' request a year ago that all
factions sign the deal immediately, as amendments and notes would be taken
into consideration as the deal was being implemented. "Time was wasted at
the expense of Palestinian national interests."

Egypt began mediating a unity deal between the rival movements following
Hamas' takeover of the coastal enclave in 2007, leading to Abbas dissolving
the newly-elected unity government.

Comment:
This is one huge political game and the smoke and mirrors receives the MSM attention. This is only part of the real story-the one behind what you are asked to believe. There is a Pulitzer in this story for one of you journalists with enough courage to finally do the research and brave enough to write about it-wishful thinking on my part.

The tragic part of this story are the Left wing, Progressive types in Israel who also know this but put their own ambitions ahead of the security of our country-Israel. Shameful behavior on their part and yet no one is willing to say so-ah,I just did!
