The Jewish eternal light is rather dim these days. Though, for 2000 in exile Jews preserved it well, since the establishment of the state of Israel it has been obfuscated with democracy, post-Zionism and endless wars Israel simply cannot win.
Why are these eight days of festivity differ so much from all other Jewish holidays? Why is Chanukah so symbolic to the Jewish nation?
While Passover is a celebration of the Jewish nation’s redemption from slavery to freedom, Chanukah is a celebration of Jewish pride, endless resistance of the enemy, without thinking of appeasement, preservation of Judaism, the Jewish Nation and the Jewish Homeland. Chanukah is the story about ancient Jewish heroes, about ancient brave Jewish leadership who acted along the epitome of national determination, much of it was lost during the 2000 years of the Jewish Nation's exile that represents endless Jewish suffering. This is a story of miraculous victory over the might of the enemy, resulting in Jewish elation now celebrated for more than 2000 years. The same miraculous victory, but not total defeat of the enemy, Israel has achieved during 1948 War of Independence, the Six Day War and even Yom Kippur War when almost her defeat was turned into victory.
Some of the Maccabees' blood has been rejuvenated in every Israeli soldier, however, the focus has been slightly distorted due to way too long state of war Israel has been and is experiencing without ending it with total defeat of the enemy. The candles are dim and require fresh oil.
During the eight days of Chanukah the Jewish Nation commemorates its ancient independence in the Land of Israel, the one modern State of Israel took upon itself to continue. Celebrates pure Jewish Independence cannot be taken lightly and must be preserved with the nation's body and soul.
The Maccabees (Makabim or Maqabim) were members of the Hasmonean Dynasty, that ruled the Land of Zion from 164 BCE to 63 BCE, reasserting the Jewish religion in the land, expanding the boundaries of the Land of Israel and reducing the influence of Hellenism, a/k/a post Zionism and Hellenistic Judaism.
The Maccabees were a Jewish rebel army who engaged in a war, from 167 BCE-to-164 BCE, with the Greek-Macedonian Seleucid empire, that conquered Israel and ruled it until 63 BCE, when the Romans conquered Jerusalem.
When Antiochus VI Epiphanes became the ruler of the Seleucid Empire the Jewish High priests began their treachery of the Jewish people. Antiochus pillaged the Temple, attacked Jerusalem and pursued a Hellenizing policy with zeal. This effectively meant banning traditional Jewish religious practice. In 167 BCE, Jewish sacrifice at the temple was forbidden, Sabbaths and feasts were banned and circumcision was outlawed. Altars to Greek gods were set up and animals, prohibited to Jews, were sacrificed on them. The Olympian Zeus was placed on the altar of the Temple. Possession of Jewish scriptures was made a capital offence.
As the classic narrative goes, after Antiochus issued his decrees forbidding Jewish religious practice, Mattathias the Hasmonean, a rural Jewish priest from Modiim, sparked the revolt against the suppressive Seleucid Empire. He refused to worship the Greek gods, just like modern Israel must end its dealing with the genocidal terrorists, the Arabs. Mattathias killed a Hellenistic Jew, who stepped forward to offer a sacrifice to an idol in Mattathias' place. He and his five sons fled to the wilderness of Judea. After Mattathias' death, about one year later, in 166 BCE, his son Judas led an army of Jewish dissidents to victory over the Seleucid dynasty in guerilla warfare, which at first was directed against Hellenizing Jews, of whom there were many. The Maccabees, a term used to describe the Jewish army, is taken from the Hebrew word for "hammer," destroyed pagan altars in the villages, circumcised boys and forced Jews into outlawry.
After the victory, the Maccabees entered Jerusalem in triumph and ritually cleansed the Temple, reestablishing traditional Jewish worship there and appointed Jonathan Maccabee as the high priest..
The Maccabees main objection was to free Jerusalem and the Temple. The Jewish festival of Chanukah celebrates the re-dedication of the Temple following Judah Maccabee's victory over the Seleucids. According to traditional story, the victorious Maccabees could only find a small jug of oil that had remained uncontaminated by virtue of a seal, and although it only contained enough oil to sustain the Menorah for one day, it miraculously lasted for eight days, by which time further oil could be procured.
The Maccabees did not have any boundaries, thus were successful is reasserting the Jewish religion and tradition, expanding the boundaries of Israel and reducing the influence of Hellenism. They had no problem with expansionism while successive Israeli government have no problem in reducing the state of Israel's borders to rubble.
Unfortunately, in the Modern State of Israel of 2011, where this remarkable Jewish victory took place and that Jews have been celebrating for over 2,000 years, the Jewish-Israeli people, once again, are abandoning their patrimony and faith in search of a delusional be like all other nations and accommodation of their enemies, bent on erasing Israel.
In 1967 Six Day War, Temple Mount, in Jerusalem, was finally returned to Jewish hands after being, for 19 years, in the hands of Jew haters Arabs. Temple Mount is where the temple the Maccabees freed from the Amalek's hands stood. It is the Holiest place for all Jews, yet the Hellenistic-Israeli Moshe Dayan gave its management to Israel's archenemy the Arabs. And what the Muslim-Arabs are doing to this Holiest of Holy, they are desecrating it and erasing all evidence of Jewish history there. They are desecrating the place by praying to Allah and practicing their anti-Jewish religion, its key objective is to eliminate the Jews from the face of this earth. If you hand over the Holiest of Holy to your wretched enemy, all else is an easier task! Ask the Maccabees if that move was right or wise.
Is it only me who began believing that Jews do not deserve a country to call their own? Because as soon as they have a state they split into million national fragments who disagree with each other thus have a history of losing their Home Land.
Just look at the Jewish Nation’s history till now: the Jewish Kingdom that King Saul began ended up in a split; two kingdoms for one nation, the Kingdom of Israel to the north and Judea to the south. Through out the years, till the final expulsion took place, the Jewish Kingdoms, no matter what Dynasty ruled it, were soaked in much blood, assassinations of Kings by other Jews claiming to the throne. The Jewish Kingdoms did not differ in behavior from all other Goyim kingdoms. The Jewish priests were corrupt, ask Jesus. All along the history of the Jewish Kingdoms in the Land of Israel the Jewish Nation was constantly warned and preached by a long chain of—messengers of the Jewish God—Prophets who brought God’s message to his disobedient and unfaithful nation. All these prophets told the Jews to mend their ways, to go back to God’s way or else. But the Jews, who think they know better, did not listen and the prophecies came true. The Jewish Nation found itself dispersed to the four corners of the world and paid with endless suffering and blood of millions for 2000 years. Had Jews listened, Israel would have been a great power of perhaps 100 million, or more, Jew members.
And now, what has changed but nothing?! The same cloud of post Zionism and post Judaism is growing stronger. The division of a nation of 14 Million in numbers, to Orthodox, reform and secular Jews is ubiquitous.
The only glue that bonds a nation is total unity of nationalism and patriotism if not religion as well! What other country in the world has over ten political parties with 6 million Jews split on every issue? None! The Maccabees will tell the State of Israel beware!
Israel badly needs a benevolent Jewish ruler like Mattathias to lead her so she can endure, survive and last?
