Wolf Blitzer
of CNN was interviewing Anderson Cooper, who had just
come to Israel from Gaza.
Among the questions: was one scared to have been there
in a combat area?
Cooper said, basically: sure some stress, but no real
fear for personal safety, esp. as compared with his
stints in Bosnia and Syria, when the attackers just
lobbed shells at an area indiscriminately Acknowledging
that some people would disagree, he said: it was very
clear that the IDF clearly knew exactly what it was
targeting. Palestinians knew it, too, he said: some of
them would go outside to watch and even photograph the
attacks, because they knew they were not either the
targets or the object of indiscriminate fire.
Naturally, there was danger in that might unknowingly
end up near a Hamas operative or weapons site, and so,
sometimes the innocent were hurt or killed--but bottom
line: clear efforts to hit only military targets
Comment: On the other hand, Hamas et al in Gaza targeted civilian populations- Between 2001 and January 2012, over 12,000 rockets had been launched, leading to 28 deaths and several hundred injuries,[1][2] as well as widespread psychological trauma and disruption of daily life.[3] According to research done by the Social work department at the Sapir Academic college, an estimated 15,000[4] people from Sderot suffer from PTSD and an estimated 1,000 are undergoing treatment.[5]
There have been since Nov. 14 2012-less than 10 days. There have been 1,697 rockets this year alone. Civilians ave been targeted and murdered. We defended ourselves, they put launchers, munition caches etc next to schools, homes, mosques-another war crime violation. Do not tell me who the barbaric one is...use your power of analysis.
