Anti-Semitism at Play in the USA

Train Posters Citing Tutu, Urging End to US Aid to Israel

Naturally, they posted them in Harlem, where the big decisions about U.S. aid are made.

A display of fairly insulting posters along the platforms at 25 Metro-North train stations went up this week, calling for an end to “apartheid” by stopping U.S. aid to Israel, WABC News reported.
If you stayed home for Passover, you were spared these unsightly messages – but they’ll be there tomorrow morning, on your way to work, if you travel from suburban New York and Connecticut,.
A group called American Muslims for Palestine paid for the billboards, which are displayed at 25 Metro-North stations. But the true force behind the latest effort to soil Israel’s name is—you guessed it—all Jewish.
“The campaign against U.S. aid for Israel targets neither Jews nor Passover, but rather Israeli apartheid and injustice. And the best way to honor Passover, which celebrates Jewish liberation from ancient oppression, is to champion Palestinian human rights today,” said Michael Letwin of Jews for Palestinian Right of Return, who spoke at Tuesday’s launch of the billboards at the Metro North Harlem station.
Naturally, they posted them in Harlem, where the big decisions about U.S. aid are made.

Zahhar: Hamas will not interfere in Egyptian affairs

http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=579592

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Hamas will not interfere in internal Egyptian affairs, a senior party official said Wednesday.

"We respect all political, popular, constitutional components of Egypt. We will not interfere in Egyptian matters," Mahmoud Zahhar told reporters in Gaza City.

"We want to establish legitimate economic relations with Egypt, and not through tunnels," Zahhar added.

Egypt has recently cracked down on smuggling tunnels under its border with Gaza, blocking a lifeline to the besieged enclave.

Amnesty slams Morsy for failing to protect Copts

Amnesty International slammed the government on Wednesday for failing to protect Coptic Christians, the largest religious minority in the country.

“Coptic Christians [in Egypt] must be protected from sectarian violence,” the international human rights body said in a statement.

Amnesty said there had been a rise in tensions between religious communities in the town of Wasta in Beni Suef Governorate, about 100 km south of Cairo, in recent weeks.

Tensions were sparked in February when a local Muslim woman was reported “missing” and members of her family and local Salafis blamed the Mar-Girgis Church, claiming they had convinced the woman to convert to Christianity, an allegation the church denies.

COP: Another Perspective

Marriage, the Federalism Solution

Tony Lentini

The debate over gay marriage isn't really about same-sex couples forming a union as much as it is about the definition of marriage being between one man and one woman and the larger issue of whether the will of the people in individual states may be thwarted by the government through the judiciary.  Since gay marriage was not even remotely on the Founding Fathers' radar screen, who may marry is not among the powers granted to the federal government.  As such, it is relegated to the states, at least according to the Constitution.

I personally have no problem with gay couples forming civil unions.  I have many gay friends who are in monogamous, loving relationships, who adopt and raise children and are productive, law-abiding members of society.

A Chinese View of the Muslim World

This is interesting because the divide between the Muslim world and the Asian sphere goes right to the heart of the chaos spilling out of the region.
The non-Muslim countries of Asia have been getting their act together while the Muslim countries have been Islamizing and taking large chunks of Saudi money.
There is no telling where Indonesia might be today without the influence of Islam. And Pakistan might be closer to India, instead of a horrid backward place that murders women for minor offenses and invests money in terrorism and nuclear weapons.

North Korea is an aberration only by Asian standards. By Muslim standards it’s the norm. And so this Gatestone piece is of some interest.
The Chinese, at behind-the-scenes conferences and discussions during the past few months, kept saying they were perplexed about the Muslim world’s – particularly the Arab world’s – inability to deal with the modern world. The Chinese and the Muslims, they repeated, had suffered the same humiliation and occupation by foreigners over the past two hundred years, but the Chinese and Muslim reactions to these experiences seem so completely different.
“We also suffered,” the Chinese said, “but now we control our destiny, and are doing everything we can to learn from these foreigners so that we can benefit from the modern world and ensure that we do not suffer this humiliation again. We Chinese ‘look to the future.’”
The Muslims, on the other hand, the Chinese stated, seem to have a different approach: Instead of looking to the future, they “are mired in the past,” more concerned about taking revenge against those foreigners whom they believe had humiliated and oppressed them.
It was because of this focus on the past, these Chinese intellectuals and leaders stated, that Arabs and Muslims were therefore unable to build societies which could participate in the modern world. “Revenge and victimhood,” these Chinese argued, could permanently cause “the Arabs and Muslim world” to “remain behind the West and Asia.”
China, which is largely secular, despite a sizable number of Muslims, has trouble understanding the intersection between religious and national imperatives.
The Muslim world doesn’t really consist of nations, but of a motley collection of tribes, ethnicities and linguistic groups tied together by the Islamic expansionist mandate.
The expansionist mandate of Islam ties Islamic identity to conquest. Revenge and Victimhood is the whole point. China can function as a country without Korea, even though it might like to do that one day. However China does need to take Taiwan and Hong Kong to retain its Chinese identity.
But for Islam, their Taiwan is the entire world. Islam must rule over non-Muslims and expand its dominions or it loses touch with its Islamic identity and its sense of destiny that gives it momentum.

Are Muslim Lives Worth More Than Hindu or Christian Lives?

Lately you can’t help stumbling across an endless series of newspaper articles denouncing Sri Lanka for “persecuting” its Muslim minority. The latest horrifying act of persecution by the Buddhist country is a proposal to ban various Burka like arguments that oppress women and make any country a paradise for all sorts of criminals who can walk the streets in full body disguises.

Meanwhile when Bangladesh Islamists declare that their aim is a “Hinduless Bangladesh” and attack Hindu temples, no one notices or cares.
In Nigeria, Boko Haram, an Islamist group, has destroyed 50 of the 52 Catholic churches in a single diocese, has openly called for the ethnic cleansing of Christians and has killed thousands, but Obama Inc. has refused to add it to the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations allowing Muslims in America to continue subsidizing its atrocities.
The real question here is why are Muslim lives more important than the lives of everyone else?

Roosevelt, Ibn Saud, and American Jews

 Andrew Bostom

This morning at AT, Professor Emeritus Edward Bernard Glick described his frank 1958 discussion with Eleanor Roosevelt regarding her husband, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s decision not to bomb the railway tracks connecting to the Nazi extermination camps for European Jews. Professor Glick also alludes to prevalent antisemitic attitudes in the State Department, and perhaps President Roosevelt, himself, whom he quotes as having stated to a prominent Jewish Congressman, “The Jews in America should know that they are tolerated here, but not more than that.”

Another U.S. Muslim calls for limiting American’s 1st Amendment rights…to protect Muslims

And subjecting Americans to sharia law.

America’s free-speech model is in desperate need of an update, says an American-Muslim human rights activist who recently spoke at an event linked to an Obama administration appointee.
Dr. Qasim Rashid argued that cyber-bullying laws could be used to limit freedom of expression – such as the burning of Korans — in war time:
“When a nation is at war, many things that might be said in times of peace are a hindrance to this effort,” Rashid said on March 19 at Howard University.  “And their utterance will not be endured so long as men fight and…no court can regard them as protected by any constitutional right.”
Read that again. Rashid masquerades as a self-proclaimed moderate but he clearly wants to replace the Constitutional right of free speech with sharia law.

'WE ARE ABOVE THE LAW OF THE LAND'

Muslim leader's stunning claim at Texas rally for Islam

by JOHN GRIFFING

Muslims living in America should not be bound by U.S. law, according to a leader of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, who delivered the controversial message to a crowd at a Muslim rally in Austin, Texas.

“If we are practicing Muslims, we are above the law of the land,” said Mustafa Carroll, executive director of the Dallas-Fort Worth CAIR branch.

The rally in Austin was part of a nationwide effort to hold “Muslim Capitol Day” events.

According to the event website, Muslims from around Texas went to the capitol to “promote civic and political activism throughout the wider Muslim community.”

Troubling Times for Once Mighty Hizballah

Haifa, Israel – Hizballah's continuing alliance with embattled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has the notorious Shia political and military movement navigating choppier waters than at any other time in recent memory.

Led by Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah – the Iranian-backed preacher rarely seen in public these days for fear he might be assassinated – Hizballah had been the unquestioned Shia force in Lebanon. But cracks have begun to appear as both internal dissent and external pressures have been brought to bear and reveal a vulnerability that had rarely, if ever, been seen before.

President Obama – angry at Hizballah's continued support of the Assad regime – didn't mince his words in Jerusalem March 21: "Every country that values justice should call Hizballah what it truly is – a terrorist organization."

Muslim Persecution of Christians: January, 2013

Raymond Ibrahim

Egypt: A court sentenced an entire family – Nadia Mohamed Ali and her seven children – to fifteen years in prison for converting to Christianity.
The year 2013 began with reports indicating that wherever Christians live side by side with large numbers of Muslims, the Christians are under attack. As one report said, "Africa, where Christianity spread fastest during the past century, now is the region where oppression of Christians is spreading fastest." Whether in Kenya, Nigeria, Mali, Somalia, Sudan, or Tanzania—attacks on Christians are as frequent as they are graphic.
As for the Middle East, the cradle of Christianity, a new study by the Pew Forum finds that "just 0.6 percent of the world's 2.2 billion Christians now live in the Middle East and North Africa. Christians make up only 4% of the region's inhabitants, drastically down from 20% a century ago, and marking the smallest regional Christian minority in the world. Fully 93% of the region is Muslim and 1.6% is Jewish."

Turkey and Israel: interests over grudges

Turkish media reported this week that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's apology has paved the way for a massive joint pipeline project carrying natural gas from Israel to Turkey and from there to Europe. There is no overestimating the influence joint economic interests can have on stable relations between countries.
It is said that during a private conversation, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion once thanked French President Charles de Gaulle for France's help to Israel, attributing it to the strong alliance and friendship between the two countries. To which De Gaulle replied, "France has no friends, only interests."

Turkey too has interests.

The Obama Administration’s Disgraceful Muslim Brotherhood Policy

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s Islamist Muslim Brotherhood-dominated government, which has the support of the Obama administration, has just issued arrest warrants for five activists on false charges that they allegedly used social media to incite violence against the Muslim Brotherhood.  These activists include a blogger who played a key role in the 2011 revolution that toppled President Hosni Mubarak.

In addition, the Muslim Brotherhood itself filed complaints against 169 opposition figures, which included a former presidential candidate who now works in television.

Will Pope Francis Become a Dupe of the Islamists?

The Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Azhar University want to shake hands with the new Pope Francis. One of the first pledges he has made is to embrace interfaith dialogue with the Muslim world. Will he become the latest dupe of the “moderate” Islamists?

Pope Francis is a critic of Pope Benedict’s 2006 speech in Germany where he quoted a Byzantine Emperor that said “show me just what Mohammed brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”

It caused a rupture in relations between Muslim authorities and the Vatican, with almost 40 Muslim scholars signing a letter of protest. Five churches were attacked in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, reinforcing the negative depiction of their religion that they were so offended by.

European Network Against Racism calls on EU to recognise "Islamophobia" as "racism"

Jihad Watch

What race is jihad terror against innocent civilians again? I keep forgetting. What race are Islamic supremacist attempts to subjugate non-Muslims under the Sharia? I always forget that one, too.
If the ENAR really wants to end "Islamophobia," here's how. They can call upon Muslim individuals and groups to:
1. Focus their indignation on Muslims committing violent acts in the name of Islam, not on non-Muslims reporting on those acts.
2. Renounce definitively, sincerely, honestly, and in deeds, not just in comforting words, not just "terrorism," but any intention to replace Western constitutions (or the constitutions of any non-Muslim state) with Sharia even by peaceful means. In line with this, clarify what is meant by their condemnations of the killing of innocent people by stating unequivocally that non-Muslim civilians, including Israelis, are innocent people, teaching accordingly in mosques and Islamic schools, and behaving in accord with these new teachings.

U.S. Muslim calls for restrictions on free speech at event hosted by Obama appointee

Jihad Watch

Qasim Rashid, an extraordinarily arrogant man who is deeply contemptuous of any opponent of the Islamic supremacist agenda, joins his fellow Ahmadi Harris Zafar in calling for restrictions on the freedom of speech. That is a recipe for tyranny, and it bodes ill that an Obama appointee was involved. "Obama’s Religious Freedom Appointee Involved in Muslim Event Calling for Limiting Freedom of Speech," by Elizabeth Harrington for CNS News, March 26 (thanks to David):

Cyprus: When law and order prescribe theft

theoptimisticconservative

Who will shoulder the pain from the Cyprus bailout deal?
The first-order sufferers will be small businessmen (mostly Russian) and upper-middle Cypriots and foreign residents with their money in Cypriot banks.  But the whole region will take a longer-term blow from the loss of Cyprus as a place for upstart businesses to park capital.  Capital that can’t be parked cheaply in the EU won’t be invested in the EU – at least not by the smaller, less financially “connected” entrepreneurs who drive economic dynamism and growth.
The big Russian firms that bank with the Russian Commercial Bank in Cyprus have protection in the deal, although they will have more trouble moving capital around under the “capital controls” to be implemented, to keep depositors from draining their accounts.  Russia has been relatively quiet and mild on the terms of the Cyprus deal, largely because the biggest Russian depositors in Cyprus bank with the RCB anyway, and won’t be hit with the 40% “amputation” tax on their accounts.

How Morocco Is Transforming Africa and Why Americans Should Care

Ahmed Charai

Moroccan King Mohammed VI visited three African countries south of the Sahara last week -- Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Gabon -- and convened a series of meetings the outcomes of which are poised to affect the region's development and security, as well as America's relations with much of Africa.

The North African monarch is no stranger to his southern neighbors.  Since February 2005, the King has visited more than ten countries below the Sahara, including such strategically vital nations as Gambia; both Congo Barazziville and the Democratic Republic of Congo; Burkina Faso; Guinea, and Niger.  The visits have been part of a strategy to enhance Morocco's role as a supporter of political, economic, and cultural development on the continent, as well as its role inenhancing regional security.
