I have just been sent this letter, which was sent by a Christian in Egypt to a Christian group. The letter appears here exactly as it was sent to me. I didn't write the bracketed material -- it was included in the letter as it is posted here. On May 6th 2009, at 2:30pm, an attack on our home where my son, Mena Antoine Basily, existed at this time alone, took place. According to our neighbors who witnessed the accident, The attackers who knocked on the door violently were four long-bearded persons carrying swords, clubs and knives…. My son Mena opened the door for them; and when they entered the apartment, they beat him harshly, broke his bones and injured him so badly that the walls of the apartment are still stained with much of his blood….They then dragged him downstairs and forced him into a white car that was waiting for them in front of the building and carrying no plates. They then ran away swiftly without being stopped by any of our neighbors who were afraid for their lives.
When we went home, we called the police and an officer came. He inspected the apartment , saw the blood stains on the walls and questioned the neighbors who recounted what happened to him. He then recorded this unofficially, but when the father of Mena, Mr. Antoine went to the police station with this officer to make an official police report, the officer completely refused to make this report. When we could not solve this issue with the officer, we went to the office of the district general attorney and requested that he instruct the police station officers to report the accident. We wrote the following in our request to the general attorney:
[They recounted the accident as well as what happened in the police station, then they conclude their request with the following statement:
We plead your Excellency to allow us to report this accident officially and to instruct the law enforcement agencies to search for my son and bring him back to me]
The general attorney accepted the request after questioning the neighbors and gave us a written instruction to the police station to make a police report for us; but when we went to the police station and gave the general attorney’s written instruction to the officers, they tore it down and told us that they would never make this police report!! (note: The police officers in Egypt have unparalleled power given to them by the emergency laws imposed by president Mubarak since the assassination of the previous Egyptian president, El-Sadat).
We went then to the district chief prosecutor office and we wrote the same request in addition to the following statement:
We plead your Excellency to instantaneously investigate this matter by yourself and to allow us to report this incident either in the police station or in the prosecution office….. and finally we managed to have the accident reported by the prosecution delegate: report number 9565 for year 2009 Mountazaa Awal.
And my son is still kidnapped and I do not know where he is. Please, I need your instantaneous help to find my sole son…….and please, pray for me so that God may have mercy upon me and bring my son back
Signed
It has been found that this kidnapped person is now under detainment by the police (with the possibility that he is being tortured) and he is accused of having a love affair with a Muslim girl. He is accordingly being forced to convert to Islam in order to marry her [No Dhimmi can marry a Muslim woman, but a Muslim man can marry (or have sex with) an indefinte number of Dhimmi women]. The reason for this is that Muslims consider themselves in a continuous war with Dhimmi so if a Muslim man has an opportunity to have sex with a Dhimmi woman, he will consider her Halal (an Arabic word which means something allowed by Allah) because she is in his eyes a captive girl (the Quran gave Muslim men the right to marry four women, in addition to the captives his right hand possesses). It is a horrible form of Fascism.
It is obvious that the purpose of this accident is to convert this person to Islam and the Egyptian state is competely involved in this matter. The persecution of the coptic people in Egypt is therefore not just individual accidents as the Egyptian state always claims, it is however a real persection that takes place with the encouragement and the involvement of the Egyptian government whose goal is - as stated by the late Egyptian president El-Sadat who said that Egypt in a period of fifty years will have no christians and if it will, we will turn them into shoe-scrapers- to evacuate Egypt from its native people, the Copts.
