Thou Shalt Tell The Truth

Nurit Greenger

The Bible is filled with slogans and commands, only that people do not follow on them as they should.

The Biblical prophets spoke the word of God – the truth - and thus commanded the Jewish people and warned them to hear, listen and act. But the people preferred to ignore them and the consequences soon became reality.

We are in the 21st century and we do not have the kind of Prophets who walked the land of Israel in ancient times but we do have other people who deliver the message of truth.

Last week, at the Saban Theater/ the Temple of the Arts of Rabbi David Baron, in Beverly Hills, California, attended by the Israel Consulate officials and a full house of Christians and Jews who support Israel, Christians United For Israel (CUFI) have put together their second Night To Honor Israel annual event in Southern California. The event was electrifying with the most poignant messages, delivered by: the Christian Zionist Pastor John Hagee, the Pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas and the National Chairman of Christians United For Israel (CUFI), a grass roots national association through which every pro—Israel Christian ministry para-church organization, or individual in America can speak and act with one voice in support of Israel in matters related to biblical issues; David Brog, the Executive Director of Christians United For Israel, Uri Resnick Deputy Consul General of Israel in Los Angeles, and Malcolm Hoenlein is the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
David "Dudu" Fisher the Israeli cantor and stage performer have sealed the evening with his music.
The message of CUFI is very clear, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
And for that action is required.
Since that Jews and Christians have, together, entered times of peril from Islam, their destiny is now closely intertwined and we better recognize this reality. Numbers matter.
So hear them, the truth tellers, learn from them and follow their leadership:
"a Bible that falls apart normally belongs to someone who is not"
"Persistence overcome resistance."
"It is never wrong to do the right thing."
"The only way to love is the Torah way or the wrong way."
"You cannot change what you cannot confront." Pastor Hagee advocates to confront the UN/UNRWA and the Palestinian Authority, both harming Israel, by defunding them, as both want to erase Israel's past so she has no future.
Those who know the Biblical story of the twelve spies, whom Moses sent to spy on the promised land, probably remember the names of only two spies. Why? Because, "Those who say bad things about Israel are erased from the memory of history."
God had promised the Israelites that they would be able to conquer the land with its incumbent Canaanite nations. Moses instructed the spies to report back on the agriculture and lay of the land. During their spy tour, however, the spies saw fortified cities and resident giants, which frightened them and led them to believe that the Israelites would not be able to conquer the land as God had promised (Doubting the power of God). Ten of the twelve spies, their name were deleted from history, decided to bring back a false report, emphasizing the difficulty of the task the Israelites will be facing. They gave Moses this account: And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.  However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there.— Numbers 13:27-28
The names of the two spies who we do remember are Hoshea (Joshua) son of Nun, from the tribe of Ephraim and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, from the tribe of Judah. These two true tellers did not go along with the other ten spies; they tried to convince the Israelites that they could conquer the land. However, the Israelites preferred to believe the spies majority's conclusions because it is easier not to make an effort. "It is too easy to succumb to negativity and/or to keep silent." As a result, the ten spies were struck down with a plague and died and Joshua and Caleb were spared.
"We are tested to ignore the truth, to be politically correct." CUFI's warning: while 2/3 of Americans are pro and support Israel, on campuses, where the future leaders are being groomed only 1/3 are pro and support Israel. Anti-Semitism is rampant in campuses and in the streets on the West. One main reason is money. The Saudi oil money, they earn from the gas money we pump into our cars, then is poured into our universities; that money funds the well of knowledge that is poisoning our young generation and turns them into anti-Semites and hostile to Israel. The call to action, make the United States energy free and free the future of this country of Islamic Wahhabism - conservative and intolerant form of Islam that is practiced in Saudi Arabia and is exported into our country through our democratic system.
As far as the State of Israel's official stance, CUFI is a very important organization and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated it clearly in his whole hearted endorsement of the work of CUFI in his video message to the event's attendees. Our Jewish indelible paranoia that claim that CUFI members are working to convert Jews to Christianity and they believe in replacement theology must be closely examined. We are all big boys and girls and by now we should know how to defend our Jewishness and Judaism against any attacks of this type. We are no longer living under the mercy of a host country where we are a fringe minority. We are a sovereign nations, a strong country and must know how to act as such.
If you have any reservations about CUFI, the Prime Minister of Israel does not.  Please watch this video of Prime Minister Netanyahu addressing a group of Christian Zionists at CUFI Jerusalem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqgDKbGUdT0
In principle CUFI is a non-conversionary organization focused SOLELY on educating Christians on the importance of support for Israel as a Jewish state AND on further developing the relationship between Christian and Jewish communities.
Each time I attend an event that involves CUFI I leave it with euphoric feelings. Last night was no different. I know, we, Jews, are not alone, Israel is not alone.
The world is facing crisis on many levels and it is all inter-related. The truth is not depressing, rather it is enlightening. The truth, no matter how doom and gloom, cannot be changed or metamorphose, lies can. Every word counts as words can kill.
"Leaders of democracies lie, dictators tell the truth". "Many red lined become pink lines and this is dangerous sign." And this pertains to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the current President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is the biggest threat to the USA, Israel but more so, to the entire world. "Iran must be stopped. We have the muscle to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons and then there will be peace."
One person – Moses – took the leap of faith to accept God and led and with that he has changed history. Each person has a Moses in him or her; as individuals and together we can take a leap of faith, make the difference and redirect history.
Do we now take to the streets, as we should, before it is too late, or we continue living in a bubble of apathy and remain silent?
Up to you, and you, and you.
