ASSALOUYEH, Bushehr, Nov. 2--President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran welcomes friendly and fair relations instead of tensions regarding its peaceful nuclear program.
Comment: From an Iranian new source-same strategy, blame your enemy-place the responsibility onto them President Ahmadinejad was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Ghadir Urea and Ammonia Petrochemical Complex in Assalouyeh on Thursday, IRNA reported.
He recommended bullying powers to become “a friend of the Iranian nation“, stressing that the time of speaking about war and sanctions has ended.
The president also advised certain European countries to change their stands.
“Till when do you intend to pay the cost of selfishness of an aggressive government from the pocket of your nation? If you continue on your previous path, we will reciprocate and take a decision,“ he said.
This is an implicit reference to the West’s blind support for the Zionist Israeli regime since many decades, which has proved to be harmful to Mideast stability and peace.
President Ahmadinejad urged certain European states supporting the ill-wishers of the Iranian nation to change their attitude.
He added that the International Atomic Energy Agency in its report has explicitly announced that Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful.
Stressing that Iran has no concerns over sanctions, the chief executive said, “One of the characteristics of the Iranian nation is that it can quickly change threats into opportunities.“
Ahmadinejad referred to the imposition of unilateral US sanctions as ’ridiculous’, noting that the US is forcing European countries impose sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the president said Iran possesses rich gas resources and can achieve maximum value added by developing petrochemical complexes.
Underscoring the importance of expanding the indigenous petrochemical industry, he said certain countries, including Europeans, are eager to make investments in Iran.
“In the last two years, about 40 billion dollars have been annually invested in the oil industry on average. There is an increasing demand for investing in Iran even by European countries,“ he said.
President Ahmadinejad on Thursday officially inaugurated Ghadir Petrochemical Complex in Assalouyeh, which produces urea and ammonia and is among the major projects in Pars Special Energy Economic Zone.
The first phase of the complex, inaugurated on March 25, 2007, produces one million tons of urea and 680,000 tons of ammonia annually. Some $220 million plus 600 billion rials have been invested for setting up Ghadir Petrochemical Complex.
Twenty-five petrochemical projects will be implemented in the Pars Special Energy Economic Zone.
