From Arab media:
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- A new serious document was reached between PA chief Mahmoud Abbas's entourage and Israeli MP Yossi Beilin including the PA's approval of giving up the right of return for Palestinian refugees and parts of occupied Jerusalem. Hebrew daily 'Ma'ariv' said that the Palestinian team in the secret talks, headed by Yasser Abed Rabbo one of Abbas's close associates, expressed readiness to surrender right of Palestinian refugees to return to the 1948 occupied lands. The paper said that the document thus paved the way before progress in talks with the Palestinians before the Annapolis conference.
It explained that the series of secret meetings between Beilin and Abbas's associates were also with the knowledge and approval of Ahmed Qurai, the head of the official Palestinian negotiating team with the Israelis.
According to the paper, the Palestinians agreed that refugees would be entitled to return to the future Palestinian state while those opting not to would be absorbed in other countries within an international mechanism but not to 1948 occupied Palestinian lands.
The daily further said that the Arab parts of occupied Jerusalem would be returned to Palestinian sovereignty and the Jewish parts would remain under Israeli sovereignty.
A copy of the document was handed to American secretary of state Condoleezza Rice ten days ago and to senior Palestinian and Israeli officials, the paper noted.
It said that both Abed Rabbo and Beilin refused to comment on the news.
