Are American History Texts Promoting Islam?

Creeping Sharia Blog

The latest bit of bad news for America indicates that a rather thorough Islamist infiltration of yet another aspect of American life is well under way. This time, it is the rewriting of our history books with an Islamic supremacist bias.
If you think this practice is limited to a few books or schools, think again.
What are the odds that, while out for a walk, a random individual would stumble across a crumpled piece of paper in a church parking lot that would contain the words "Muslim Brotherhood"? Such odds are extremely small and the odds that the same person would also contribute to a blog on the topic of "creeping sharia" would make this match-up seem even less likely. Yet this is a real scenario that unfolded recently.
An image of the found paper is shown above. The paper was Test-Form B of Chapter 16, Unit 5 and is published by McDougal Littell Inc. The topic of the chapter displayed is "North Africa and Southwest Asia Today". The fill-in-the-blank question, one of the few this student answered correctly, was, "Members of the ____________ in Egypt object to the cooperation of the Egyptian government with Israel and the United States." The answer is the Muslim Brotherhood. Which is scarier: the fact that this question is being asked, indicating this topic is being taught in American public grade schools, or that this student actually got it right? It could have been a lucky guess, or the student actually could have been knowledgeable enough about the subject matter through other means. What would those means be?
A quick internet search of the term "Muslim Brotherhood" would lead any student to the Muslim Brotherhood website where their About page states the following:
Fatah Movement has been leading, for forty years, the Palestinian national action arena; about twenty years ago, Hamas movement started to share with it the influence in this arena. Taking into consideration that the two movements were founded by the Muslim Brotherhood womb (although we realize that Fatah adopted from an early stage a secular trend), we may perceive how far was the influence and ideology of Sheikh Hassan Al-Banna on the action for the Palestinian cause.
Other search results would lead any student to learn that the Muslim Brotherhood is banned in Egypt where hundreds of its members have recently been arrested. Or that the group has plans to wage a soft Jihad in the United States as evidence revealed during the Holy Land Foundation trial, and that they may have influenced the new Department of Homeland Security policy on the use of words that, in their view, might offend Muslims.
So we have tangible proof that controversial topics are being taught to young Americans in public schools, yet what's not known is the context in which such topics are being taught. Who are the teachers? What is their knowledge of the Muslim Brotherhood and Islam? What biases do they have and how do they explain the topic?
With a growing Muslim population in the U.S. and a suspect immigration process, could it even be possible that members, or relatives of the Muslim Brotherhood, are teaching in U.S. schools and at the university level?
Among the myriad of North African and Southwest Asian topics from which to choose, does the Muslim Brotherhood really warrant study? If so, are the group's origins, terrorist activities, and desire to kill Israelis being taught? Are students being introduced to Muslim Brotherhood subsidiaries such as Hamas and Hezbollah? One certainly has to wonder how such a topic became so prominent to garner class time in American schools and become test material.
This same test had a map of the Middle East depicting Palestine but not Israel. Coincidentally, chapters from the same publisher are found on one teacher's blog for a school named Smitha, which teaches:
"...when the Romans destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem, the Jews no longer had their own country. They lived scattered around the world but still considered Palestine their home..." (pdf here)
Other test questions include:
1. "Most of the villagers in today's Egypt are peasant farmers known as _______."
3. "The movement to return Jews to their ancient homeland in the Middle East is called __________."
So Zionism is a term on this test as well. This certainly can't be a fair assessment of the region in modern times yet this is what is being taught to American students.
A history or social studies class on the Smitha school website appears to be taught by a Mr. Kemal - see his presentation of historical topics here. Among the topics studied in the Middle East section are:
Element: SS7H4.c
Explain the origins and spread of Islam to 1258 CE; include the religious, cultural, and military factors.
Element: SS7H4.d
Explain the origins of the division between Sunni and Shia Muslims.
How many adults are aware that topics such as the Muslim Brotherhood have crept into American curriculum? Who is vetting these topics and who are the teachers responsible for explaining the topics, and who is vetting them?
An alarming WorldNetDaily story summarizing a major report on the topic states:
History textbooks being used by hundreds of thousands of public school students across the U.S. are blatantly promoting Islam, according to a new report by an independent organization that researches and reviews textbooks.
"The upsetting part is not only do they go into the history (which would be acceptable) but also the teaching of Islam," she said. "This book does not really go into Christianity or the teachings of Christ, nor does it address religious doctrine elsewhere to the degree it does Islam."
"None of this is accidental. Islamic organizations, willing to [provide] misinformation, are active in curriculum politics. These activists are eager to expunge any critical thought about Islam from textbook and all public discourse. They are succeeding, assisted by partisan scholars and associations... It is alarming that so many individuals with the power to shape the curriculum are willfully blind to or openly sympathetic to these efforts," the report said.
Is the Muslim Brotherhood one of those organizations? Is this part of "the destruction of Western civilization through a long-term civilization-killing Jihad from within," that the Muslim Brotherhood has chartered?
Are your kids unknowingly being taught Islamic propaganda? Have you seen their tests and read their textbooks?
Now is the time to start reviewing them.
