US Army arrests four insurgents in Iraq

BAGHDAD, June 21 (KUNA) -- US forces in Iraq have detained five insurgents with connections to Iranian intelligence during a two-day raid on militia groups in Baghdad and Hilla that started on Friday.The US Army said in a statement released on Saturday that an operation carried out in Baghdad led to the arrest of an Iranian-trained militia group leader, who also held information leading to several sources from the Iranian secret intelligence.
The insurgent was located after information regarding his whereabouts was given by prisoners held by the US forces. Two of his collaborators were also apprehended.
Seperatly, another raid was carried out in the city of Hilla, south of Baghdad, leading to the capture of the head of a terrorist training and assassination network.
The terrorist network is a division of the Mahdi Army and receives backing from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian Intelligence to carry out acts of violence against security forces and civilians in Iraq. (end) ahh.sd KUNA 211409 Jun 08NNNN
