Obama’s Cairo Speech – What He Said…And What He Didn’t Say

This time he did not bow except a little when that gaudy necklace was put around his neck in Saudi Arabia. He did wear a nice and fine fitting suit, not a keffiyeh, and he looked positively splendid. The only person who looks spiffier in a suit is Kofi Annan. And then there was the speech, to which members of the Muslim Brotherhood (no sisterhood there) were invited.

He was “honored” to be hosted by the “timeless” city of Cairo and Al Azhar, the beacon and timeless locus of teaching Jihad since 988. And by the way, it was not historic for a non-Muslim to speak at Al-Azhar. England’s no longer bonny Prince Charles was awarded an honorary Ph.D. there in March of 2006.

Then “assalaamu alaykum”… nice touch.

Then Obama went on to blame the “tensions” between Islam and the West on colonialism (you see, it’s really the fault of the Euros) and the Cold War (the Russkies oppressed you too).

And 9/11? Just the fault of the tiny, microscopic, invisible extremists, but it also led some in my country to be mean to you…You see, it is a “cycle” of suspicion and discord. And it has got to end. And with every end there is a new beginning to the end of suspicion and fear which ended our relationship which now has to begin anew. Okay? Peace be upon you.

As a boy, Obama heard the call of the “azaan at the break of dawn.” Read: “I am a Christian but one of you.” In fact, he claims that in Chicago he “interfaithed” with tons of Muslim folks.

Our Renaissance President is not just a constitutional shredding scholar, but is also a “student of history” and appreciates the “light of learning” and the innovations in everything but the kitchen sink (maybe that too) that Islam gave us. Not only algebra, the compass, and soaring spires and pens and food processors, but they also promulgated “through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality.” And he repeated what Bill Clinton told the King of Morocco in 2000: “The first nation in the world to recognize the United States was the Kingdom of Morocco.” He conveniently left out the fact that the sultanate of Morocco was an active participant in the Barbary Wars of piracy against America.

Then for good measure, he added: “So let there be no doubt: Islam is a part of America.” There he goes again. Does he mean the Somalis from Minnesota who have returned to wage Jihad or the Lackawanna, New York terrorist cell, or the murderer in Little Rock Arkansas? They sure are a part of America.

He was kind enough to mention Darfur, but not the fact that it is the Muslim Arabs of the North of Sudan who are butchering the non-Arabs of the South.

Then there was a long and boring riff about Afghanistan, Iraq, al Qaeda the Taliban ending with the quote: “The Holy Koran teaches that whoever kills an innocent, it is as if he has killed all mankind; and whoever saves a person, it is as if he has saved all mankind.” That quote is lifted from the Talmud (the Mishna-Sanheddrin 4:5) Okay, maybe some imam said it on the way to a beheading. In fact it has been lifted into the Koran...5:32 but immediately followed by 5:33 which has the following "tolerant" words:"“…Our apostles brought them [the Jews] veritable proofs: yet it was not long before many of them committed great evils in the land. Those that make war against Allah and His apostle [Muhammad] and spread disorder shall be put to death or crucified or have their hands and feet cut off on alternate sides, or be banished from the country.

Obama apologized for Gitmo and “torture” to an audience that views hand chopping and beheadings and “honor killings” and public stonings as diurnal events.

Finally he opened the gift that he was bearing, namely, 10,000 square miles (including the West Bank). Just why this tiny speck of land needs to be divided to appease his audience of Muslims everywhere in the world is anyone’s guess.

To ease his way into the delivery of Israel, Obama gave the perfunctory bow to the persecution of Jews and the Holocaust without a hint of Muslim accomplices to Hitler. He called denying the Holocaust “baseless, ignorant and hateful.” Does he know that Mahmoud Abbas, the putative leader of the Palarab state, so devoutly to be wished by his administration is on record as a Holocaust denier? He added for good measure that threatening Israel is “deeply wrong” and basically counterproductive. Did he ever read the PLO charter and the Hamas charter? Not likely, since he barely glanced over Hamas while spending a great deal of time on the suffering of the “Palestinian” people.

Then he cut to the chase. Inadvertently, he let a cat out of the bag. That little speck of land in an archipelago of fanatic Jihadists is a thorn in the side of all Muslims. After all was this not a speech directed at Indonesia and Malaysia and Uzbekistan and Albania as well? And what, pray tell, has Israel to do with them or vice versa? You see, it’s that old time anti-Semitism that is part and parcel of Islam…but the “student of history” went on with all the clichés.

Each side has an equal claim to that 10,000 square miles; Arab victims live in “refugee” camps in poverty and squalor. Even as Obama lauded the vulgar flaunting of wealth of Dubai and the oil states, there was no hint that they have responsibility for their Arab “brothers.” It all falls on Israel. He added:

“Israel must also live up to its obligations to ensure that Palestinians can live, and work, and develop their society. And just as it devastates Palestinian families, the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza does not serve Israel's security; neither does the continuing lack of opportunity in the West Bank. Progress in the daily lives of the Palestinian people must be part of a road to peace, and Israel must take concrete steps to enable such progress.”

Hmmm. Is he aware that Israel surrendered Gaza to “self rule” which brought about the humanitarian crisis? He summed up his peroration with demands that Jewish settlements stop. Should Arab families in Nazareth also stop having babies and building new homes?

Mercifully, he moved on.

Democracy? Well, depends on how you see it. Freedom? Good all around. Nuclear arms? Bad. Iran? Part of it is America’s fault: “In the middle of the Cold War, the United States played a role in the overthrow of a democratically-elected Iranian government.” Say what?

Oh yes, I nearly forgot about “women’s’ rights.” Not a word about “honor killings,” genital mutilation or forced marriages. Not a peep about Sharia law, which subjugates all women. Literacy is the fix, and don’t forget the right to wear hijabs in America.

Finally, on to the economy. This is what the President who is destroying initiative and capitalism in America had to offer:

“That is why we plan to invest $1.5 billion each year over the next five years to partner with Pakistanis to build schools and hospitals, roads and businesses, and hundreds of millions to help those who have been displaced. And that is why we are providing more than $2.8 billion to help Afghans develop their economy and deliver services that people depend upon.” Geez… does he also plan to give them universal health care?

Then he went on to throw more money for his “outreach.”

“On science and technology, we will launch a new fund to support technological development in Muslim-majority countries, and to help transfer ideas to the marketplace so they can create jobs. We will open centers of scientific excellence in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and appoint new Science Envoys to collaborate on programs that develop new sources of energy, create green jobs, digitize records, clean water, and grow new crops. And today I am announcing a new global effort with the Organization of the Islamic Conference to eradicate polio. And we will also expand partnerships with Muslim communities to promote child and maternal health.”

By the way did you know that the polio vaccine was invented by Jonah Ibn Salk and Mahmoud Sabin? Just kidding.

The media and his acolytes will swoon with pleasure. The Muslims will grow more brazen and ratchet up their demands and inroads into American academic, financial and cultural institutions.

The rest of us will cringe at the shameless and historically ignorant pandering to tyrants by the ostensible leader of the free world.
