Open Letter to President Barack Hussein Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton

Dear President Obama and Madam Clinton,

I am deeply irate and most concerned by the recent actions your administration has taken and is taking against Israel.

The US has decided to make a diplomatic crisis out of genuinely innocent Israeli blunder.

Vice President Joe Biden, speaking for you, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, speaking on your behalf, have, condemned, bashed, humiliated and harassed Israel for its approval to go ahead and build in east Jerusalem that has been agreed upon between the counties months ago. You should have discussed the matter behind closed doors and smoothed it as friends do.

But no, you have decided to make the matter a diplomatic circus and as a Jew I am deeply offended.

People close to you - from the Vice President to David Axelrod to Hillary Clinton have scolded Israel in the most severe terms, terms you will never use against the USA worst foes, i.e. Iran and North Korea. The language they have used between allies is shocking, the least to say, especially when it is now most obvious your administration repeatedly reaches out to Israel and Jews' enemies and lets serious affronts from Iran, Syria, Russia, and China go by without complaint.

Your spokesmen, Robert Gibbs et al, have said that building housing in East Jerusalem is a blow to the US-Israel relationship and even endangers our brave military personnel in the region. This is an utter lie. The US-Israel relationship is based on shared values and interests that go back decades. Certainly, if you wanted, you could have weathered the small storm of a badly-timed announcement of housing construction in east Jerusalem. But no, you have found this incident a great opportunity to further push Israel under the bus to appease and reward the Arabs. This one track policy you have taken against Israel from the day you stepped into the Oval Office had gained you the least support among Jews and 96% of Israelis see you as their enemy.

Your decision to link this construction project to events in Iraq and Afghanistan only emboldens Israel’s enemies, who will now seek to blame Israel’s existence for every problem in the region, including problems like jihadist terrorism, which have nothing to do with the Jewish state.

With such atmosphere you have created, Israel will walk to the negotiations as a prejudge loser. Under such circumstances. why will Israel even agree to any negations?

All you have deliberately created is the most troubling distraction from the real threat to Israel and the US interests in the region, as well as to the entire free world ,which is the fast approaching Iranian nuclear capability.

Additionally, I am most disturbed by reports from Israel that your administration is now pressuring, not only to stop constructions in east Jerusalem, which your administration has approved and agreed Israel can do, but Israel must make a show of concessions, perhaps even releasing Arabstinian terrorist prisoners or turning over areas in the 'West Bank' to the Arabstinians.

With such patronage from you, the Arabstinian leaders will now be further emboldened and their stand toward Israel will greatly harden. They will again refuse, as they have repeatedly done, to come to the negotiating table or to take concrete steps for peace, all because you have allowed items for negotiations to become preconditions for the Arab-"Palestinians" to insist on before talks even begin.

Mr. Obama, I urge you to stop pressuring Israel in this ongoing one-sided way. It is not good for Israel, it is not good for the Arabstinians and it is not good for the USA.

You promised to be a friend of Israel and an honest broker in trying to bring about a negotiated peace. The actions of your administration in recent days prove you are Israel's fair-weather friend. Such actions have moved all the parties involved dangerously far in the other direction.

I am a proud American and I am a proud Jew who supports Israel. Like the vast majority of Americans, I value the strong strategic alliance between the US and Israel. I ask you to immediately change your course or calamity is inevitable.

We are now told that your hostile policy towards Israel has pushed the courtiers' relations to an all time low as known these past thirty five years. I urge you to not let the US-Israel alliance weaken any further.

I hereby urge you to immediately defuse the current tension with Israel!

Sincerely,

Nurit Greenger
