“Penetrating Israeli websites means opening a new field of resistance... electronic war against Israeli occupation,” says Hamas spokesman; "Saudi hacker" gives video interview: "We'll destroy Israel in the cyber war."

Hamas called for an escalation of Internet hacking against Israel, saluting Arab programmers who have managed to infiltrate Israeli computer systems, Bloomberg reported Sunday night.

“Penetrating Israeli websites means opening a new field of resistance and the beginning of an electronic war against Israeli occupation,” Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a statement e-mailed to reporters in the Gaza Strip. In recent weeks, computer hackers claiming to be from Saudi Arabia obtained and publicly posted the confidential information of Israeli citizens, including credit-card details. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu established a National Cyber Directorate in August to guard against infiltration of the country’s government and business computer systems.

Meanwhile, the "Saudi hacker" who released thousands of credit card details spoke for the first time since the affair. In an interview late Sunday night reported by Channel 10 News, OxOmar answered questions on video, using voice distortion technology to disguise his identity.

"We will destroy Israel in the cyber war. This a war that will also reach the real world," he said. He called on others to hack into Israeli websites, and expressed contempt for Israel for not being able to catch "the hacker causing a daily headache."

He added that he would like to thank the Gaza hackers that hacked into Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon's website. He addressed the minister saying, "Danny Ayalon I am here waiting for you." He also said that he was joining a group for hackers called "nightmare" that intend to overthrow the Israeli stock exchange site.
