Israel has agreed to a three-hour ceasefire during the visit of the Egyptian Prime Minister Kandil to Gaza today on condition that Hamas ceases rocket fire as well, political sources told Reshet Bet Israeli State Radio.

Yesterday the Jerusalem Post reported that “A high-level Egyptian delegation is expected to arrive in the Gaza Strip on Friday for talks with Hamas leaders on ways of ending the current round of fighting with Israel.”

“Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Kandil will head the delegation, which will consist of a number of cabinet ministers, announced Taher a-Nunu, spokesman for the Hamas government.”

Israel’s Channel 2 reported yesterday that President Morsi of Egypt was sending his Prime Minister with a delegation of ministers to Gaza to serve as human shields for Hamas.
The Algemeiner reported that although some labeled the Egyptian Prime Minister’s visit to Gaza as an act of “solidarity,” with Hamas, Israelis believe that he carries a message from Morsi to Hamas to end the violence immediately.

Speaking to The Algemeiner an IDF spokesperson declined to comment on the matter.
