Daniel Silva & AMIT, What They Have In Common

Nurit Greenger
On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Olympic Collection, in Los Angeles, we invite you to meet the author Daniel Silva, receive a signed copy of his newest book, The Heist, hear the Q & A, moderated by Rabbi David Wople, and learn a great deal about AMIT that is building Israel, one child at the time.
The Invitation The Invitation
AMIT, with over 100 schools all over the country, enables Israel’s youth to realize their potential and strengthens Israeli society by educating and nurturing children from diverse backgrounds within a framework of academic excellence, Jewish values and Zionist ideals. Amit is helping launching the author Daniel Silva brand new book The Heist. This title will be released on July 15, 2014.
Why Daniel, the Heist and AMIT?

In this book, the character, Gabriel Allon, is inspiring, mostly to Israelis. He served his county, he is well-educated and a good citizen; he knows about art, history and culture, yet, he lives a life of adventure outside Israel. A blend of a nerdy professor and kind of a Bond spy guy. What kid will not be mesmerized by the story and inhale the writing, while having a serious lesson through the character’s knowledge?
Bestselling author Daniel Silva is coming to Los Angeles for an exclusive appearance, which will help AMIT’s fund raising efforts. All proceeds are going to Beit Hayeled, translates to, the Home of the Child, and Kfar Blatt, in Jerusalem and Petach-Tikvah.

What is Beit Hayeled and Kfar Blatt: For over 600 children, ages 6 to 18, AMIT Kfar Blatt and AMIT Beit Hayeled are the only places they have ever called home. These children have been placed with AMIT because their own home environment has been ravaged by drugs, sexual and physical abuse, alcohol and/or parents who are unable to take care of their basic needs. They come to AMIT abused and traumatized and bereft of any self-confidence or respect. Few have dreams about the future.
How it works: At Beit Hayeled, these children are paired with surrogate parents and live in family units of 12. They are given the basics of food, clothing, a warm and loving home, trauma therapy and the committed love of two surrogate parents. For many, this is their first true exposure to a stable and loving family. Their time at AMIT is often cited as the turning point in their lives when they are finally given the opportunity to heal themselves and pursue educational opportunities.
Measurable success: thousands of alumni of these two legendary surrogate homes have graduated and have gone on to serve in the IDF, attend college, obtain jobs and have families of their own.
A cause, from the heart, no one should pass or miss supporting.
