The Israeli government has asked the Supreme Court to reject the application of dozens of Sderot residents who requested protection for 800 houses in the city. Residents of Sderot argued that the government has a duty to protect their homes from the incessant firing of kassam rockets. The government has not yet decided whether it would invest in the shielding of houses or in missile shields. The government added that it was a political decision which the court should not interfere in.
Comment: This is disingenuous to put it mildly. The government has "allowed" the court to indeed interfere with governmental policy-wake up Israelis, fellow residents-do not allow this to go unchallenged.
