Irresponsible leadership: The university strike: the Treasury and lecturers have failed to reach an agreement to end the strike.

Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On has proposed using an arbitrator to resolve the dispute. Israel's economic successes, its business advantages and its scientific accomplishments are directly related to its citizens academic ability to produce the best in the world. Our strategic strength and our very security is the the result of our intelligent soldiers and support personnel.

It is unforgieable to have this university strike last for what essentially amounts to a semester. Yhis has caused untold harm upon our students and faculties. The educational edge we have over our enemies is now at risk. The damage of this inability to resolve awhat is basically a "work dispute" is nonsense-forgive the simpicity of language.

Our presnt and future existence is linked to our ability to attract, mainitain exceelent faculty. We are already at risj for creating a larger "brain drain." Our young students deserve a system that enables them rather than disables their very academic souls. To not recognize this, to not dispatch people who know how to handle theese kinds of deliberations is nothing short of criminal. At a time when we are constantly being attacked by so many on the "outside", not having the proper national leadership to protect our internal well being borders on being mean spirited at best and it borders on abject irresponsibilty by Israelis so-called leadership.
