Israel Security Agency Terror Data: Attacks up 67% from January‏

A total of 139 attacks were registered in February 2013. This is a considerable increase in the number of attacks, compared to 83 in January 2013.
 
Most of these attacks were in the form of firebombing, in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria. There was also an increase in the number of IED attacks in Judea and Samaria (15 in February, as opposed to 7 in January). Overall, 100 attacks took place in Judea and Samaria this month, compared to 56 attacks in January. 84 of them were firebombing. In Jerusalem 38 attacks took place this month, compared to 27 attacks in January. 35 of the attacks were firebombing.

One terrorist attack from the Gaza Strip took place when a rocket was fired into Israel on 26 February. There were no similar attacks in January.


Three Israelis – one civilian and two security officers – were injured in terrorist attacks in February. They were all wounded during separate stone hurling and firebombing incidents during rioting in Jerusalem and Judea. The civilian was injured in Bitunya / Binyamin area (21 Feb.), and the two security officers were injured in Issawiya / Jerusalem (9 Feb.) and in Hebron (22 Feb.).

Following is a regional distribution of attacks:

1 attack from the Gaza Strip (none in January); 100 attacks in the Judea and Samaria (56 in January); 38 attacks in Jerusalem (27 in January).

Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in February (119 out of 138) were in the form of firebombs (January: 70 out of 83).

The Gaza Strip – 1 attack: rocket launching.

Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 138 attacks: 15 IED; 1 small arms shooting; 2 stabbing; 1 run over; 119 firebombs (35 in Jerusalem).
