A few news briefs from today

The Ezzedine Qassam Brigades have denied reports published in Israel that Hamas intends to carry out attacks to derail the Maryland peace conference. In a quite unusual press release, the armed wing of Hamas said that the Israeli report was ''fabricated''. Hamas, however, intends to continue its ''routine'' attacks against Israel, the spokesman for the Abu Oubeןda organization added.

The Iranian nuclear threat in Natanz: a new underground facility for the development of atomic weapons is being built near the existing uranium enrichment site in Natanz, in the heart of the mountains for shelter from bombing. This is what the National Commission of Resistance of Iran, an Iranian opposition organization has reported.

"Jerusalem is not for sale" Eli Yishai told Condoleezza Rice. The Minister of Industry and Trade and Deputy Prime Minister had a tense discussion this Sunday afternoon with the American Secretary of State. In particular, he explained that ''the current Palestinian Authority has two heads. We can not reach a peace agreement with 40% of the Palestinians''. Rice responded by saying that a "turning point" had been reached and that ''the key questions of the conflict would be discussed at the conference in Annapolis.''

Two new investigations against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert: the Attorney General Meni Mazuz decided on Sunday night to open two additional investigations for using undue influence and various irregularities committed by Ehud Olmert at the time he was Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment.

A senior official of the Turkish army has warned the United States on Sunday that his country would decide to break off military relations with Washington if Congress approves the proposed legislation stating that Turkey committed genocide against the Armenians during the First World War.
