John Howard hasn't been prime minister of Australia since November 2007. Nontheless, did he actually say these things and if so I would like to know when. They are great comments and there is already an e-mail circulating here in the UK using your exact text but finishing with the comments that British citizens should take note, etc. However, if the comments attributed to Howard are false or doctored they really lose their meaning.
Tell that to the aborigional people. I wonder what they think of Howard's "christian" principles. Wasn't this the man who left a sinking ship-load of asylum seekers, and refused them even the common decency of food and a roof over their heads, then used them as cheap political fodder? Many Australian country towns are now home to refugees and many country people have found them to be hard working, well educated, thoroughly impressive people who have suffered enormously and deserve a fair go. Many are only there because of the foreign policy of countries like Australia, America and the UK who have bombed and destabalised their home countries leaving them no option but to flee. There are incidences of qualified people such as Iraqi doctors working in an abattoir in Australia.
One of the facts of Australia's immigration policy is that hundreds of respectable, often well educated professional people are right now locked up in detention centres with all the trappings of a modern day concentration camp. And they have committed no crime.
On the contrary, they were among the cream of their societies, and for that very reason they were persecuted by dictators like Saddam Hussein and the Taliban in Afghanistan, and forced to leave their homes.

This is amazing. I go to a University in Ontario, and this totally applies. The amount of "not promoting Christianity", and Chinese people speaking chinese, not english is just annoying. There are amazing comments
This guy should still be the PM. He actually seems to have a backbone; something that is missing in 99% of world's politicians, especially in the US.
