Pakistan: Pervez Musharraf arrived in Brussels Sunday for the first leg of his European tour. The Pakistani president is also expected in France, Switzerland and Britain, whilst his country is facing a serious political crisis, after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and with a few weeks to go before the presidential elections.Iran is threatening to cut ties with the Netherlands, where a film critical of Islam, was shown. The chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Iranian parliament, Ala Adin Borojardi, said that ''if the Netherlands shows this film, the Iranian Parliament will ask to reconsider their bilateral relations''. The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, called on the United Nations to put pressure on Israel to end the closure of the Gaza Strip. He also sent letters on the subject to the Arab League and the Quartet countries (the United States, the European Union and Russia). (Guysen.International.News)

One of the leaders of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees said that he is opposed to the escalation of firing on Gaza and Sderot.
