Iran, China plan to increase commercial exchanges to 28 bln dollars in 2009
TEHRAN (ISNA)-The President of Iran-China Chamber of Commerce Asadollah Asgaroladi said with economic stability the two countries will grow the volume of commercial exchanges to over 28 billion dollars in 2009. 58 to 60 percent of the total amount belongs to Iran including 40 percent nonoil export to China, he said Tuesday in an interview with ISNA.
According to Asgaroladi with economic stability in the country, Iran would be able to increase the volume to 50 billion dollars at the end of the Fifth Five-Year Development Plan (2010-2015) comprising 20 billion dollar nonoil goods.
Meanwhile, he continued, Iran seeks establishing 5 commercial centers in Shanghai, Beijing, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
Comment: This is but one exampkle of the economic motivation for all other countries to NOT dusuade Iran or seek real change in their nuclear plans. Follow the money! Most of the entire West,China and even India are so aligned economically with Iran, they all fear causing any upset which in turn would harm their local economies. The USA is exhibing no leadership at all in this arena-instead of putting pressure upon these countries to do the "right thing" the USA is backing off any more sanctions. The reason "sanctions" have to date not produced the results is simple-lack of compliance by participating countries. If, and I do mean if, the West wanted to stop Iran without firing one weapon it is possible. Iran's economy is vulnerable and cannot tolerate a 6 month prolonged embargo of prodcuts, services, capital and financial institution changes. Our grand children shall look back upon this historical moment and ask why, why did you not do the right thing? Why did so many have to die-needlessly. Your answer is...?
