Foreign Secretary comments on Israeli settlement construction

"We call on the Israeli authorities to reconsider this decision, which undermines the prospects for peace."

Foreign Secretary, William Hague, said:

“I condemn Israel’s decision to approve more than 900 settlement units in the East Jerusalem suburb of Gilo and the retrospective approval which has been given for construction in five West Bank settlements. This is not disputed territory. It is occupied Palestinian territory and ongoing settlement expansion is illegal under international law, an obstacle to peace and a threat to a two state solution. We call on the Israeli authorities to reconsider this decision, which undermines the prospects for peace. All those who support a secure future for Israel and a future Palestinian state should be working urgently to restart peace negotiations, not taking steps which make this more difficult.” Comment: There goes that silly UK government again.Seems like only yesteryear that the men in ties "gave us" a large area of land. You remember, the large area of land that was not theirs to begin with-the land the Turks, excuse me, the Ottomans once owned. Now, this did not stop the Brits from confiscating the land and then together with their friends in France decided to divy up the area into parcels they then deemed countries. Oh, those Brits have a flair for this kind of disposition-as long as it is someone else's property they never seems to hesitate intervening and offering their legendary analysis and land granting skills. The same Brits who made a promise of a large land mass to some authentically displaced people only to pull 80% of it back at the proverbial "12th hour." You remember them, don't you?

I have noticed over these same years that the use of the "bully pulpit" satisfies their conscious and subscribes to them the "authority" by simply declaring it is so, e.g., I am a foreign minister and I state that activity A is illegal void of any plausible explanation. Those Brits certainly are full of themselves are they not?

I also note that living thousands of kilometers away provides these same Brits a much needed high perch upon which they can look down on others and tell them exactly how to operate their lives. This has been an acquired skill by the Brits, take note of how well they have done with their northern brothers and sisters-how about the emerging new legal system in country, you know, something called sharia. Yes, we definitely should pay attention to these Brits, they are mastering their own minds as I write this-all the best-doc
