GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Mohammed Al-Madhoun, the spokesperson of the legitimate PA caretaker government of the duly elected PA premier Ismael Haneyya, has confirmed Monday his government's full and unquestionable support for the Palestinian teachers and for education in occupied Palestine. In this regard, Madhoun announced the disbursement of cash money loans to the new batch of Palestinian teachers, affirming that the PA government will see to it that the new teachers will be endorsed and there employment as teachers secured before the end of the year 2007.
Madhoun's remarks were announced during a rally organized by the Palestinian teachers' syndicate in Gaza Strip in celebration of the Eid Al-Fitr (the Muslim celebration of the end of the Ramadan) where he pointed out a number of issues raised by syndicate concerning education in Palestine.
He also called on the PA ministry of education to consider the recommendations made by the syndicate, urging the ministry to decrease the numbers of students in the classrooms and to shorten classes at the PA schools.
He also underlined that the PA government will always support the teachers' legal rights and will always protect them against any harm.
For her part, Raja Al-Saikali, the spokesperson of the syndicate, confirmed the syndicate's full attention to the teachers' needs and concerns, and that it will always safeguard the teachers' legal rights.
She also unveiled a number of steps the syndicate adopted with the aim to acquaint the Palestinian teachers with new developments in the ministry.
In addition, Saikali pointed out that the syndicate had made a proposal to the PA ministry of education urging it to appoint assistant teacher for every official teacher in order to help alleviate the burden of education on the Palestinian teachers.
Saikali's remarks were bolstered by Dr. Mahmoud Abu Dof, the dean of the education department in the Islamic University in Gaza city, who hailed the syndicate for the "good job" it was and still is doing for improving education in Palestine.
He also called on the Palestinian teachers to uphold their vital role in the Palestinian community and keep up the good momentum in teaching and educating the next generations of the Palestinian youngsters.
