Iranians Have Fond Memories of Russia

TEHRAN, Oct. 16--Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday the real power of a country lies in the inherent grandeur and strength of its people, and history is full of lessons in this regard. In a meeting with the visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin, he noted that the “people of Iran have a bright and favorable impression of the Russian nation in their minds.“
This positive image is due largely to the “resistance shown by the people of Russia against their enemies in different eras,“ the leader told his important visitor who was accompanied by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Putin expressed satisfaction over his visit to Tehran and pledged to work for further cementing bilateral relations in key areas.

“Moscow-Tehran ties will expand without any limitations and we are hopeful this visit will help open new vistas in two-way relations,“ news agencies quoted Putin as saying.
Commenting on his talks with Ahmadinejad that, among other things, included cooperation in the energy, transportation, spaceÉand other sectors, the Russian leader said “interest of the Russian nation exists
in the presence of a strong and effective Iran on the
international scene. Without doubt we will continue in this direction.“
Putin arrived here Tuesday to attend a one-day summit of the Caspian littoral states that include Azerbaijan, Iran Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan.
