COP: Will the United States end up like Rome?

Will the United States end up like Rome?

The United States is a republic.

On the spectrum of government, on the Left, it is full government,

(Israel is oligarchy democracy)

On the Right, it is Zero government,

In the middle is the type of government that is limited to its proper role, protecting the rights of the people. This is where the Constitution of the United States is: Republic rules by laws Without law, there can be no freedom.

Democracy: Demos=People / Kratein=Rule = The rule of the people

Republic: Res=Thing / Publica=Public = the Public thing is the law.

True Republic is one where the government is limited by law, leaving the people alone.

The United Sates Founders did all they coulf to keep us from a Democracy.

Comparing Rome to the Under states:

Solon was an Athenian Statesman, lawmaker, and poet. He is remembered particularly for his efforts to legislate against political, economic and moral decline in archaic Athens. His reforms failed in the short term, yet he is often credited with having laid the foundations for Athenian democracy)

The Romans followed Solon's Law and they created the 12 tables of the Roman laws and built a Republic that limited the government power and left the people lone. Since the government was limited, the people could produce with the understanding that they could keep the fruits of their labor. In time, Rome became wealthy and the envy of the world. In the midst of the plenty, the Romans forgot what freedom entail. They forgot that the essence of freedom is the proper limitation of government power. When government power grows, people's freedom recedes. Once the Romans dropped their guard, power seeking politicians began to exceed the power rendered to them in the Roman constitution. Some learned that they can elect politicians who use government power to take property from some and give to others. Agriculture subsidies were introduced, followed by housing and welfare programs. Inevitably, taxes rose, and controls over the private sector were imposed. Soon, a number of Romans producing and could no longer make ends meet grew and they want on the dole. Proclivity declined, shortages developed, and the mob began roaming the streets demanding bread and services from the government. And they were induced to trade freedom for security. Eventually, the whole system came crashing down and they went from a Republic to a Democracy and ended up with oligarchy under the aggression of the Caesars.

We, Americans, ultimately, are left with only two choices: We can keep our Republic as Franklin put it, or, we will inevitably, end up with oligarchy, a tyranny of the elite.

We, Americans, ultimately, are left with only two choices: We can keep our Republic as Franklin put it, or, we will inevitably, end up with oligarchy, a tyranny of the elite...unless we revalue what is going on right now, we are going to lose our Republic to the latter.
