FYI regarding taxes-hopefully this begins a conversation devoid of partisanship

Comment: What say you?Does this resonate with you?  How so? No one ever seems to wonder why the concept of greed does not also apply to a government. When you add up the all the taxes a person pays, i.e., income tax (average is 17%-varies of course on income earned, as high as 40%), state and local income taxes (10.6%), Sales tax (9%) Social security and Medcaid (7.6%), property tax (2.5%), Fuel tax (.7%), other (5%) to name but a few.  Des not include other local taxes. Total tax percentage potentially paid by the above average US citizen, 2013 est. - 59.7%. For Middle class and under citizens the total tax paid is closer to 43%, since the figures above do not distinguish between taxes on gross and net income, nor do they adjust for tax planning and many other factors. Note also that the Tax Foundation's numbers are closer to 30% for the actual "average" US citizen.
