Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, adored by American Islamists and their allies, has resigned and the Islamists aren’t happy about the name being floated to replace her: NYPD Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Peter King (R-NY) have both endorsed Kelly for the position, with Schumer going so far as to immediately recommend Kelly to the White House Chief of Staff upon Napolitano’s resignation. Kelly is receptive to the idea, and President Obama is sending the signal that Kelly is a real contender.

Obama praised Kelly’s performance as NYPD chief and said, “Mr. Kelly might be very happy where he is, but if he’s not, I’d want to know about it, because obviously he’d be very well qualified for the job.”

What is it that makes Kelly so qualified to head Homeland Security? In the words of New York magazine:
In his nearly dozen years as Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s police commissioner, there have been zero successful terrorist attacks on New York and — at least by the NYPD’s count — sixteen thwarted attempts. Kelly has built an international intelligence network while driving the city’s crime stats to record lows: This year, New York is on pace for homicides to decline yet again, hitting their lowest levels in five decades.

But the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and other U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entities are working hard to block his potential nomination to head the DHS.

CAIR made Kelly the subject line of its latest newsletter, promoting an article that accuses Kelly of associating with “Islamophobic fringes” due to the fact that Kelly appeared in the Clarion Project’s critically-acclaimed film, The Third Jihad – Radical Islam’s Vision for America , and that the film was shown to NYPD personnel as part of their counter terrorism training.

CAIR doesn’t like how The Third Jihad highlights CAIR’s Muslim Brotherhood origins and Islamist agenda by bringing proof provided by the U.S. government, internal U.S. Muslim Brotherhood documents and videotaped interviews of CAIR’s officials.

In early 2012, when CAIR first publicized the fact that Kelly appeared in the film -- crying “Islamophobia” as it always does-- the Clarion Project released a video (see below) explaining why CAIR and its allies tried to transform the NYPD’s usage of The Third Jihad into a nationwide controversy.  At the time, close to 25 moderate Muslim leaders, including the Muslim narrator of The Third Jihad, came together to hold a pro-NYPD rally.

CAIR was designated as an unindicted co-conspirator by the Department of Justice in the largest terrorism-financing trial in U.S. history. The government listed it as part of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee, a secret sub-group set up to advance the agenda of Hamas, a U.S.-designated terrorist group.

The listing of CAIR as part of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee was upheld in 2009 by a U.S. district court because of “ample evidence” tying CAIR to Hamas.
CAIR and its non-Muslim political partners have resorted to gross exaggerations and manufactured victimhood to make Kelly sound like the epitome of bigotry and disrespect for civil liberties.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity that is the top Muslim outreach partner of the White House, made the ridiculous statement that “Muslim terrorism is not a threat after 9/11” in an article criticizing the NYPD.

ISNA made the unsubstantiated claim that because of Kelly, “Imams and students are afraid to express themselves, and some Muslims are scared to pray in public. Even if a Muslim went to report a crime, he was the one investigated.”

Another Muslim Brotherhood legacy group, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC),  was the first out the gate to stand against Kelly’s possible promotion. MPAC accuses Kelly of trampling civil rights, especially of Muslims, during his tenure. Referring to the “mapping” of the NYPD, MPAC claims that“Since 2001, the NYPD spied and collected information on at least 250 mosques, 12 Islamic schools, 31 Muslim student organizations, 10 non-profit organizations and 256 ethnic hotspots.”

MPAC was founded by Muslim Brotherhood ideologues and has a pro-Islamist track record. MPAC celebrated the revolution that toppled Egyptian President Morsi, but remains a close friend of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood groups. On May 5, MPAC told a church audience that the U.S. is “aiding and abetting oppression” and the “Islamophobia network” that criticizes it is part of a military-industrial complex that seeks to provoke war.

The U.S. Muslim Brotherhood groups have had tremendous success in influencing the Department of Homeland Security under Napolitano. Training guidelines developed during her tenure even advise against listening to Muslim “reformers” (moderates that challenge the Islamist leadership).

CAIR, MPAC and their allies are going to utilize the media to present Ray Kelly as an enemy of the entire Muslim community. Don’t let them do it.

The fact that these U.S. Muslim Brotherhood groups -- especially CAIR -- are so determined to stop Kelly is a reason to support his nomination, not to oppose it.
