Nurit Greenger
In
his recent fund raising speech in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem (http://www.boston.com/politicalintelligence/2012/07/30/israel/ZEdvyA3ybH1UWpii4E1wXP/story.html)
Mitt Romney prompted outrage when he spoke words of honesty and brought up some
viable facts about the differences in culture between the Israelis and Arab-Palestinians.
Time
to roll up sleeves and support Romney's position. And the following is why.
Romney spoke to a group of donors, some even
flew into Israel to participate; he told a group that the
Israeli culture had helped them become more economically successful than the
Palestinians. And that is the truth. The failure of the Arab society begins with its zealous
to cultivate hate.
Romney said, “I
am overwhelmingly impressed with the hand of providence, whenever it chooses to
apply itself, and also the greatness of the human spirit, and how individuals
who reach for greatness and have purpose above themselves are able to build and
accomplish things that could only be done by a species created in the image of
God.”
The Arabs appeared on the land of Israel, from the
Arabian peninsula, when the first Jewish pioneers arrived there in the 19th
century. These Jewish pioneers carried a providence that was given to the
Jewish nation with the Ten Commandments, at the foot of Mount Sinai. The Arabs
have since tagged to this providence. So long that the Jews had gone from one greatness
to another, in the land of Israel the Arabs
who chose to, benefitted.
In 1948, the Arab nations waged a war on the nascent Jewish
state, in which the Jews lost their ancient land of Judea and Samaria that was
legally part of their land. The Arabs left this land desolated, as it was for
2000 years, due to the absence of its legal owners. Missing a limb of their land
the Israeli-Jews looked forward with faith and stamina. They built and developed
the land they managed to retain and the state of Israel went from strength to strength,
this despite the fact that the Arab nations main goal was to destroy it and
they have tried to do so on several occasions.
In 1967 Six Day War, when Israel gained back its land
which she has lost in the previous war, the Jews did not wait for anyone to
inspire them; they went to work to cultivate the land that was stolen from them
and made it bloom as their Bible ascribes. The Arabs who lived on that land,
illegally, were given another opportunity to tag along the Jewish pioneering spirit.
That worked well until the "ingenuity" [sic] of the Oslo Accords came
to play. These political agreements, have caused divisiveness in Israeli
society and dug a huge rift between the Israeli and Arab societies.
The Arabs developed a 'feel sorry for us, for the Jews
oppress us' mantra that have brought about a society that has learned to live
on the dole. The "enlightened" world has been depositing in the Arab-Palestinians
bank accounts billions of dollars in aid, much of it they have squandered or
misused. Since the disastrous Oslo
Accords of 1993, the Arab-Palestinians have been living on other people's money.
Living on other people's money only brings about corruption and takes away the human
creativity spirit, and that is where the Arabs got stuck. Not only they learned to live with the illusion
that some of the land in Judea and Samaria belongs to them, they also expected
that some providence and miracles will bring about prosperity. Unfortunately,
one cannot prosper when living on land that does not belong to you. As the Jews rolled up their sleeves and went
to work, no matter under what political and on the ground conditions, to
develop the land they have returned to their ownership, the Arabs stood on the
side line and watched the progress the Jews were making and their hatred for, envy
to and jealousy of Jews grew.
Jealousy is an negative emotion, typically refers to insecurity,
fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values,
particularly in reference to a human connection. Jealousy often consists of a
combination of presenting emotions such as anger, resentment, inadequacy,
helplessness and disgust. It is not to be confused with envy. The Oslo Accords
along which the Israelis conceded to allow Jewish land to become another Arab
state produced among the Arabs the sense of jealousy of a loss of something
that, in reality never existed. The Land of Judea and Samaria has never been
theirs.
Hatred, or hate, is a deep and emotional extreme dislike,
directed against a certain object or people. The objects of such hatred can
vary widely, from inanimate objects to attitudes, animals, oneself or other
people, entire groups of people, people in general, existence, or the whole
world. Hatred is often associated with feelings of anger and disposition
towards hostility against the objects of hatred. Hatred can result in extreme
behavior including violence, murder and war. And that is what the Arabs have
cultivated; a culture of violence, murder and war.
Envy, also called invidiousness, is best defined as a resentful emotion that occurs
when a person lacks another's perceived superior quality, achievement or
possession and thus wishes that the other lacked it. That produced the culture
of delegitimization of the state of Israel.
And that is
what the Arab society, in general, and the Arab–Palestinian, in particular,
teach their children from birth, envy of, hatred and jealousy for Jews. With such embedded negative emotions, no progress
can be achieved, or is possible, let alone living in harmony, in peace and
prosperity.
And that is
where Romney hit the nail on the head…
Romney went on
in his speech to say, “I come to this place [Israel], therefore, with a sense
of profound humility, as I look around here at great people who’ve accomplished
a great thing, and also a sense of spiritual connection, acknowledging the hand
of providence in establishing this place and making it a holy city.”
While the Arabs
are taught and are raised on negative traits, it is the Israelis, who, since
they have established a sovereign state, have built and are building an amazing
and miraculous country; they are building a society that is taught goodness,
charity and benevolence of Tikun Olam, that thrives to make the world a better
place to live.
And the result
of all that, as Romney so well expressed, "As you come here [to Israel]
and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel, which is about $21,000
dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed
by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice
such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality."
The
Arab-Palestinians called Romney's remarks their proverbial claim, racist. Last
time I looked the word racism, the Jews and the Arabs belonged to the same
race, the "Caucasian-white" race. But, to defend their failure, not only
economically, but more so humanely, the Arab-Palestinians pin everything that
deals with them and Jews as racism and racist and that includes the truth told.
All the ills of the Arab-Palestinian society is the
result of their faulty upbringing, which is embedded in a culture of genocidal hate
toward Jews, incitement, lies, deception and total detraction from reality and
truth.
If the "enlightened" West will continue to
conveniently ignore and sanction the Arab culture of anti-Semitism, hate, envy
and jealously, which has become de ri·gueur of
their society and of much of the West's, then the prospect for
meaningful reform in the Arab world is doubtful and Romney's speech spoke
volumes of truth they simply do not wish to hear, and have not learned to
accept and live by.
