Last
week, on June 27, the 166th graduating class of the Israel Air Force's
Flight Academy marked the conclusion of three years of intensive
training. The graduation ceremony was attended by the President of
Israel Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister of
Defense Moshe Ya'alon, Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz,
and Commander of the IAF Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel.
Here are the unique stories of three of our newest pilots.
1. Lt. B – born and raised in New Jersey – earned his place among the 166th graduating class of the IAF Flight Academy.
2. After discovering he suffered from a heart disorder, Lt. T did not give up. Following a six-month period of intensive medical procedures and recuperation, he emerged with a clean bill of health, ready to become a pilot.
3. Lt. R took his love of snowboarding and adrenaline chasing to the skies and earned his pilot wings.
Lt.
Gen. Gantz told the graduates at the ceremony: "In today's strategic
playing field we are faced by challenges in air, sea, and land, as well
as in different ranges, more than ever before. If we look around, we'll
see the front is fragile and unstable, from south to north. Syria
continues to experience bloodshed, while Nasrallah's influence continues
to grow in Lebanon. In today's reality the IDF must stand unified and
prepared.”
