MK Liberman: Israel has no info that Syria transferred chemical weapons now
to Iraq
Dr. Aaron Lerner Date 15 September 2013
In a live interview on Israel Radio Reshet Bet on the Sunday morning Hakol
Diburim program, Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Avigdor
Liberman said that Israel has no information that Syria has now transferred
chemical weapons to Iraq as reported in some foreign reports just published.
According to Liberman, the first test of the Russian-American plan will come
within a week when Syria is slated to report on the chemical weapons in it
possession. It should be noted that the Russian and Americans have reached
an understanding regarding the quantities of chemical weapons present in
Syria.
MK Liberman also said that there is no chance to reach a final agreement
within the time frame set for the current talks. Liberman warned that it
was foolish to base policymaking on the Arab League's support (AL: proposal
recognition in return for complete withdrawal, resolution of the refugee
issue, etc.) noting that the Arab League has been unable to enforce its
will in Syria and other matters. Liberman asserted that the way to reach
peace was to first develop the Palestinians economically.

Comment: So the intrigue continues-this, my dear friends and readers, is what makes understanding anything here in the middle east difficult. Do not believe the initial reports, you can trust some and not others and always, verify!
