Islamic Jihad Holds Massive Event in Gaza, Thousands Attend Including Senior Hamas Official

Challah Hu Akbar

Over the past week Islamic Jihad has been holding a number of events and military marches throughout Gaza to mark its founding and the anniversary of the death of Fathi Shiqaqi.

Here are some photos from the latest event, which was also the largest. It is interesting to note that included among the Palestinians in attendance was a delegation from Tunisia. Additionally, Hamas’ Mahmoud Zahar, who was recently in Iran, was also in attendance. According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, Zahar has called for increased cooperation between Hamas and Islamic Jihad. "Cooperation between the Islamic Jihad and Hamas is an Islamic necessity for strengthening the resistance," Zahar said. Talk of a unity deal between Islamic Jihad and Hamas has been out of the news for quite some time, so this is an interesting development.

Hamas' Mahmoud Zahar is the man in the front row on the right.
