An Iranian lawmaker says Israel’s bid to shore up its security with the deployment of Patriot missiles in conjunction with the Iron Dome missile system will fail, adding that no amount of weapons can save Israel from destruction.

In an interview with ICANA on Saturday, Abbasali Mansouri Arani, a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said the US has deployed the Patriot missile system in the region to protect Israel.

“The US seeks, in every possible manner, to prevent the destruction of the cancerous tumor it has created in the region in order to fulfill its own ominous interests,” Mansouri Arani said.

He added that the reinforcement of Israel’s Iron Dome with Patriot missiles cannot undermine the resolve of the Muslim nations to destroy the occupying Israeli regime.

On February 5, the Israeli regime deployed a third Iron Dome missile battery near the Syrian and Lebanese borders.

The Iranian legislator noted that the US had provided Israel with the missile system under the pretext of fighting threats in the region.

Mansouri Arani further said that during Israel’s recent eight-day offensive against the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian resistance proved the Iron Dome’s ineffectiveness to the world by targeting Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities with short-range and medium-range missiles.

He emphasized that Washington’s overt and covert support for Israel makes the US complicit in Tel Aviv’s war crimes, adding that even the US leaders are now frustrated with the failures of the Zionist regime.

Over 160 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed and about 1,200 others were injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza from November 14-21. In retaliation, Palestinian resistance fighters fired rockets and missiles into Israeli cities, killing at least five Israelis.

The violence ended after the Israeli regime and the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, agreed to a ceasefire.
