Hallel to Hillel at UN Watch

Israel's Tower and Stockade in the United Nations (UN).
January 28, 2013 | By Nurit Greenger
There are innumerous people in our world who have passion for different things. Hillel Neuer passion is to defend the state of Israel in the UN.
In my opinion, the UN is a dangerous organization that does not stand for any of the principles on which it was founded. It is an organization that does more damage than good in world's conflicts and the majority of its member states are corrupt, bias, anti-Israel and even anti-Semitic. Israel's case in the UN can never be won and I would like to see this organization dismantle. Mr. Neuer thinks differently.

Mr. Hillel Neuer is executive director of UN Watch, a human rights NGO organization located in Geneva, Switzerland. Originally from Montreal, Canada, Mr. Neuer graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts in intellectual history and political science; he also has a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Bachelor of Laws from the McGill University Faculty of Law, as well as a Master of Laws in comparative constitutional law from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel
This week, at the Los Angeles home of Sarita and Dr. Jose Spiwak, Mr. Neuer spoke to a house full of audience why UN Watch matters in the UN Human Rights Council's halls in Geneva.
The UN bureaucrats do not like Mr. Neuer because he is their mirror they do not wish the world sees them through and so, if looks can kill is the kind of reception he often receives when he walks the halls of the UNHRC.
But fighting dictators and double standards in the UN is UN Watch's job and Mr. Neuer does it with elegancy and vigilance. This is a job for life because the issues at hand will not go away and what happens in the UN matters, no matter how inept the UN is.
UN decisions are translated to many languages and affect millions of people; "words in the UN matter" states Mr. Neuer and that is why he is there, to fight the words that were spoke wrongly.  And when it comes to Israel much of what is said is wrong. Israel is the pariah state of the UN, the only country that is held to different standards than all other UN member states. Each day Israel fights a losing battle in the UN, but Mr. Neuer's work helps, in small doses, to straighten the wrong done to the Jewish state.
Some of what Mr. Neuer said is chilling because we all think that the UN is the good guy; it is not.
For instance, to be racist is being against human rights, a principle on which the UN Organization was founded as a result of the Holocaust of WWII. However, the majority of the member states are anti-Israel, border anti-Semitic, so they work diligently to accuse Israel of human rights violations, which allows them to continuously delegitimize Israel in any way possible. Remember words in the UN matter. If you follow on Israel stance in the world and how the tiny democracy has to fight, daily, for its position among the nations you will understand how true this statement is. To be condemned as much as Israel it erodes her international standing.
A third of the UNHUC condemnations on differential and discriminatory is against Israel and that is menacing. It is an organized assault on the legitimacy of the state of Israel. There is a war against Israel in the UN, a misuse of legal lexicon to erode Israel's international stance and the votes stack against her. It is Lawfare UN Watch fights on behalf of Israel and other discriminated states.
Dr. Martin Luther King was an advocate for the young Jewish state, Israel; he was an opponent of the jihad against Israel and he said:

"I cannot stand idly by, even though I happen to live in the United States and even though I happen to be an American Negro and not be concerned about what happens to the Jews in Soviet Russia. For what happens to them happens to me and you, and we must be concerned. Israel's right to exist as a state in security is uncontestable. Peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity. I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security and that security must be a reality. I solemnly pledge to do my utmost to uphold the fair name of the Jews -- because bigotry in any form is an affront to us all. When people criticize Zionists they mean Jews, you are talking anti-Semitism." (http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/01/martin-luther-king-jr-opponent-of-the-jihad-against-israel.html)

The job of UN Watch is to educate the UN member states and the public at large and get the right word out. They have the power of the moral voice.
Here is an example of UN watch work, they fire truth wherever possible: U.N. Surprise: Victim of Qaddafi Torture Confronts Libyan Chair of Durban 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8UI6f8_6C0

In a room of darkness - the UN – there is a candle of bright light – UN Watch; it tells the untold truth about democracy and human rights.
UN Watch employs six people and its conservative budget is $1million. We can do better and in return they can do better for all of us. We receive more when we give more and UN Watch needs more to maintain our Tower and Stockade in the UN.

We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give. ~ Sir Winston Churchill, British politician (1874 - 1965)
When an organization such as the United Nations steps out of its boundaries to harm one of its member states, in this case the state of Israel, all resources and tools mush be applied to cuts its wings.
