Tonight’s air strikes in
Syria targeted sensitive military facilities, including ones
staffed by Iran Revolutionary Guard personnel, according to
Western government sources who focus on the Middle East and who
spoke to The Tower. Those those reports have
yet to be publicly confirmed.
Israel
has consistently made clear that it will act to prevent the
transfer of advanced Syrian weapons either to Damascus’s
Hezbollah allies or to Al Qaeda-linked rebel forces seeking the
regime’s overthrow.
Iran and Hezbollah have
been working to militarily seize
control of Syria. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah
recently traveled to Iran to meet withIran’s
Supreme Leader, and reports indicate that Tehran and its proxy
have created a plan to use as many as 150,000 soldiers to seize
control of Syria if necessary.
Earlier today, President
Obama underscored American support for possible Israeli actions,
telling a Telemundo interviewer, “the Israelis justifiably have
to guard against the transfer of advanced weaponry to terrorist
organizations like Hezbollah.”
Multiple videos of this
evening’s attack have been uploaded to opposition channels. One
is embedded below and more are available on The Tower.
