BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) --
Palestinian negotiators Saeb Erekat and Mohammed Shtayyeh presented
their resignation to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas
Thursday, a Ma'an reporter said.
The negotiators' bid for resignation can be either accepted or rejected by Abbas, who called for a PLO Executive Committee meeting to discuss the issue as soon as possible.
This decision comes shortly after Israel revealed plans to demolish the homes of over 15,000 Palestinians in East Jerusalem in addition to announcing the construction of over 5,000 illegal settler homes in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Comment: This is out of their "playbook"-we have seen this tactic before. Here is how it works. As time drags on and Israel does not "cave in" to increasingly nonsense demands that Abbas knows are non-starters, e.g., release of all prisoners, return to 1967 "borders" the "negotiating" group hands in their resignations or threatens to resign. The next move is up to the USA-let us see what Obama et al. do in response to this action. Note that this action came after we, Israel, indicated that we would increase building permits on our land. There is no serious talking going on, Abbas et al have once again played out their hand-time will tell if the Obama Administration will now amp up its pressure on us. Let's listen to the day's rhetoric.
